I have this reoccurring issue, and at this point I'm just like what in the entire fuck is even going on. My friends/acquaintances/people-I-don't-even-effing-know have been doing this thing where they buy all the same clothes, listen to the same music, and talk like me. I swear I'm not just having a brat attack like, "everyone wants to be me!" but it's a seriously fucking weird thing that's happening.
Multiple people have approached me about it saying, "(insert friends name) has been copying everything you do lately, it's kind of weird." Also, some of my friends who imitate everything I wear/say/peep strangely enough have come up to me and said, "it's so weird how (insert friends name) wants to be just like you" ...which is exactly what they're doing.
I don't give a shit about the weirdo broads I don't personally know, but it's really awkward when close friends do it. I can't even go shopping with some of my friends anymore because they will literally buy EVERYTHING I pick out for myself. If they want to talk like me, whatever that's weird but okay. If they want to pretend to like every song I've starred on Spotify, great. But when I meet up with my friend and she's wearing the exact motherfucking outfit I wore the week before, someone is very close to getting decked.
All weird shit aside, they're great friends (sounds nuts, I know) but this is getting ridiculous. I've been told that I tend to be influential, but I'm not down for this. I don't know how to approach them about it without just saying "stop being creepy AF". Help?
Imitation is the sincerest form of creepy
P.S. I'm 23, and these chicks are 21 to 26.
Dear Imitation is the Sincerest Form of Creepy,
You need to chill the fuck out. There's a reason people copy each other's styles and it's called being fucking trendy. Get over it. Be flattered that people like your style and want to dress like you. The worst that can happen is that they wear the same shit as you after you so everyone knows you're a trendsetter and wore it first. Did Jennifer Aniston get mad when they made her Friends hairstyle the look of the moment? No, because she knows that means she's an icon. Why do you give a shit if people like what you listen to and wear. Do you feel threatened? Furthermore, do you think you're the only one who likes the same fucking lame Ke$ha/Rihanna songs on Spotify and wears the same slutty trends of the moment? It's not even like people aren't giving you credit. Get a life and stop concerning yourself with what other people are listening to and/or wearing. A true betch would barely notice.
