Instead of using a diet app where you have to manually put in everything you eat, this Google app analyzes your Instagrams and tells you how many calories are in it. The idea is partially convenience for the user but also to stop obesity, because nothing says "stop fucking eating" than a notification that your lunch is 1200 calories.
The technology would work with image recognition software and wouldn't be constrained by generalizations about serving size like other dietary apps. So it reports how much you're actually eating, not how much you should be eating.
The only problem: people who Instagram their food probs aren't morbidly obese. The main demographic are betches who Insta their food, eat about about five bites, and then loudly proclaim how absolutely full we are.
