Last Friday, December 19th, President Obama held the year-end press conference, during which he called out Sony letting North Korea boss them around, talked about becoming friends with Cuba again, and discussed the current state of race relations in the US (not great). But what really attracted attention was the question portion of the conference, when Obama only called on female reporters. Of all eight questions fielded, zero were men.
This is reportedly the first time that this has ever happened, because political journalism is a giant boys club, kind of like the rest of DC. Not only did he completely ignore the men, but also the major news networks as well, which resulted in a lot of awkward glances around the room.
Obama ended the conference with a "mahalo," and then left for Hawaii, which is basically the presidential version of "bye, Felicia."
