If you feel like it’s been forever since you actually sat down and read a book, you’re definitely not alone. According to a new survey, 28% of American adults haven’t read a single book in the past year. This is up from 21% in 2011, but it still seems pretty good when you consider that a lot of Americans are dumb as shit.
The overall average is 12 books a year, so basically you read your bookclub book then call it a month. Unsurprisingly, women read way more than men, averaging 14 books annually to their 9. So like, we know you’re all busy, but do your best to pick up a book when you can, because we really don’t want China to think we’re all stupid.
