Remember when we told you we were going to review cooking classes like a while ago? Well we finally reviewed another. No one said this GYST shit was going to be easy. This time Betch 1 and 2 went to Essentials of Tuscan Cooking at The Institute of Culinary Education in Manhattan booked thorugh Coursehorse.com because the food sounded like, delicious. The reality is going out to eat is expensive and caloric. For those whose response to that is “Who gives a shit, I’m rich and skinny.” Congrats, but good luck leading with that on a first date. Regardless of how rich the guy you may be dating, he never wants to hear you cannot or do not want to cook and probs will not marry you. Unless you’re a model, in which case you’ve probably been learning how to cook yourself low oil low sugar low salt no gluten low carb dairy free meals your entire life. See betches? Cooking is inescapable and we’re learning that it’s something a betch should figure out how to do sooner rather than later. Plus, the more you cook, the more likes you'll get on your inevitably chic food instas.
Well after you read that menu would you? Absolutely we do. But also, FYI we did not personally make all of those things. The class was divided into groups so we did get to try everything, but didn’t make each item, which is fine because I really didn’t give a shit about the Pork Chops, sorry chef. Also the class is like super long so prepare to wear comfortable shoes or you’ll be dying.
- You want ME to grill a steak? My dad usually does that.
- Oh Bellinis I’m down.
- Crostini does that have a lot of carbs?
- Biscotti… people actually make those I thought they just like, came in individual packaged bags at starbucks or something.
Turns out we were all wrong about everything. They made the bellinis for us (crying profusely emoji), homemade biscotti are fucking amazing, crostini is really cool its just toasted bread and yes it has carbs but not that much!, and yes we grilled steak and omg it was the best steak out of the whole class, thank you very much.
The one issue: We almost got heat stroke while stirring the risotto because of the extreme heat of the stove but NBD, betches are always cold, so it was a nice change of pace.
We learned even more in this class because of the high range of skills, we didn’t mix up sugar and salt this time, and got to use stuff we learned in the last class in this one. Minced mad shallots bro.
