If the name Wentworth Miller doesn’t sound especially familiar, you’re probably not alone. He’s the hot guy that starred in Prison Break, that early 2000s show that you never watched but somehow always knew about. After Prison Break ended, he basically dropped off the face of the earth, but this week he caused a lot of conversation when he spoke out on Facebook about his mental health and weight struggles.
It all started when joke page The LAD Bible (wtf is that?) posted a meme of Miller that was a joke about how he had gained weight after Prison Break got canceled. The second photo was from back in 2010. Miller then shared the photo in a long post about how in 2010 he was struggling with depression and suicidal thoughts, so he turned to food to help him cope. The post talked about perseverance and assigning positive meaning to painful things in our lives, and tbh it was pretty moving. Wentworth has retired from acting, but it seems like he’s in a much better place now. The LAD Bible pretty quickly figured out they had fucked up and, not wanting to be the target of the internet's wrath, posted a status apologizing and reassuring its followers that mental health is no joke. Here at Betches, we obviously like being skinny, but mental health is obviously more important.
Check out the meme and Miller's response in its entirety below.
Whoever made the original meme must feel like Asshole of the Year right now.
