New year, same horrifying news: wildfires are once again raging in Southern California. The fires started on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, due to extreme wind and dry conditions. The frightening impact has been felt all around the state, including Los Angeles County. This of course is not the first time Californians have had to face dangerous extreme weather, and scientists have said that global climate change is a huge factor in many environmental problems becoming more frequent and powerful, including these devastating fires. In scary times like these, everyone feels the weight of what’s going on. It’s important to stay aware of the conditions, spread the word on the resources out there (like this amazing comprehensive list compiled by Mutual Aid LA), and lend support as people are displaced from their homes. Some celebrities have chimed in to share their reactions to the wildfires.
