The Emmys 2025 Nominations Mostly Got It Right, But These Brutal Snubs Hurt

Selena will get her flowers ONE DAY, but that day isn't today.

It’s Emmys noms day, and I’ve been rooting for my fave shows like a passionate sports fan roots for their fave teams. This was the first opportunity for the Television Academy to recognize medical drama masterpiece The Pitt as well as the psychological crime hit Adolescence, crime drama miniseries The Penguin, and Seth Rogen’s buzzy comedy, The Studio. Thank goodness they didn’t disappoint on those fronts!

When it comes to returning favorites, we all predicted that the Emmys would show lots of love to The Bear (even though season 3 is the worst season by far, sorry), Hacks, Black Mirror, The White Lotus, and Severance. With 27 nods, Severance is actually the most nominated show this year. If it were up to me, Ginny & Georgia would’ve gotten, like, 30, but alas, the Television Academy is just not on my level of TV expertise.

Running Point queen Brenda Song and What We Do in the Shadows star Harvey Guillén just announced the full list of nominations — and it includes some genuine surprises and some brutal snubs. You can catch the 77th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards on CBS on September 14, hosted by comedian Nate Bargatze. Until then, you can be excited about the well-deserved noms and pissed about these devastating disses: Here are all the Emmys 2025 nominations snubs.

Emmys 2025 Nominations Snubs: Patrick Schwarzenegger, Selena Gomez, The Rehearsal

Patrick Schwarzenegger Was Among The White Lotus Cast Members Who Got Dissed

I don’t often feel bad for nepo babies, but today is one of those days. My guy, I’m so sorry. It must’ve been awful watching literally all of your costars getting nominated for an Emmy and not hearing your name called. (Walton Goggins, Jason Isaacs, Sam Rockwell, Carrie Coon, Parker Posey, Natasha Rothwell, and Aimee Lou Wood were all recognized for their performances in the show.) I honestly think Patrick’s performance was Emmy-worthy, but I fear the Television Academy disagreed. Sadly, Michelle Monaghan, Sam Nivola, and Leslie Bibb were also snubbed.

Martin Short Scored An Acting Nom For Only Murders In The Building, But Steve Martin And Selena Gomez Didn’t

Martin Short, Steve Martin, and Selena Gomez are a power trio in Hulu’s Only Murders in the Building, yet only Martin was recognized in the acting categories. He’s up for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series. Where’s the love for Steve and Selena?

Elisabeth Moss Didn’t Get A Nod For The Handmaid’s Tale

Not recognizing this icon for her work in the final season of The Handmaid’s Tale is a crime. I’m pissed. This is surprising too, because she’s been nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series four times and won once before.

The Four Seasons And The Rehearsal Were Overlooked In The Comedy Category

Two brilliant, beloved comedies and neither of them scored a nod in the Outstanding Comedy Series category! The audacity is crazy. Thank goodness Colman Domingo got nominated in the Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series, at least.

The Voice Was Ignored In The Reality Competition Program Category

This is low-key shocking because The Voice has earned a nod every year since 2012, and the show has won the category four times!

Nice Surprises: Nobody Wants This And Paradise

The good news? There were also some delightful surprises when these noms were announced. Kristen Bell and Adam Brody were both recognized for their performances in Nobody Wants This, and the show also got a nod for Outstanding Comedy Series. I enjoyed the silly show about a hot rabbi and his forbidden romance, but honestly didn’t predict it would sweep! It was also exciting to see Paradise do so well — the new political thriller series was recognized in the Outstanding Drama Series category. Plus, Sterling K. Brown is nominated for Lead Actor in a Drama Series, James Marsden is nominated for Supporting Actor in a Drama Series, and Julianne Nicholson is nominated for Supporting Actress in a Drama Series.
