Yikes Alert: Garcelle And Sutton Are Having A Very Public Friendship Breakup
You hate to see it.
I’ve been pouring one out since the tragic news that Garcelle quit The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. Without Garcelle (a v professional, v Hollywood star, mind you), who’s going to do the one thing everyone else on the cast claims they’re obsessed with but refuses to do by choice: be honest? You could say a lot of things about Garcelle, but you can’t say she doesn’t keep it real, and her latest dose of reality is regarding her friendship with her Beverly Hills bestie, Sutton Stracke.
TBH, I’m disappointed since I loved watching their impromptu buddy comedy since season 10, but not entirely surprised, given how Sutton and Garcelle’s friendship seemed to low-key fracture starting with their trip to Augusta, Georgia. Sutton seemed more thirsty for Kyle Richards’ friendship after their bonding session down south, instead of appreciative of Garcelle for going above and beyond for her. In return, Garcelle let Sutton flounder on the yacht ride from hell, and I guess things were never the same since. So, um, are Sutton and Garcelle still friends after RHOBH? The receipts are not looking good.

Are Sutton and Garcelle still friends?
Seems like their friendship is on a serious pause after Garcelle unfollowed Sutton, along with the entire RHOBH main cast, including Kyle, Dorit, Erika, and Boz (though Garcelle is still willing to KIT with Kathy Hilton and Jennifer Tilly on IG). Seems like a valid reaction from Garcelle, considering Erika, Kyle, and Dorit went back to their glory days, AKA pulling a masterful gang up on the most vulnerable cast member as they’ve done several times before (Denise Richards, still on your side, babe).
In response to the public diss, Sutton has said that she “can only imagine that [Garcelle] needs a clean break right now” after quitting the show, but that Sutton “love[s] her” and is “giving her the space she needs.”
Why did Garcelle unfollow Sutton?
Sutton probs got the chop because she didn’t defend Garcelle during her eons in the hot seat, as Garcelle has done, hmmm, I think, at least a few times before (in Vegas, Germany, Spain, and all over Southern California, IIRC). Even worse, Garcelle looked visibly put off by Sutton’s unexpected positivity for the cast mates she’d been sparring with all season, like when Sutton told Andy Cohen her biggest surprise rose from the season was how well she got along with Erika Jayne. Um, Sutton, my dear, were we watching the same show??
When did Sutton and Garcelle stop being friends?
Even before Garcelle did the brave act of hitting unfollow on main, it was pretty evident things were not chill between her and Sutton. Sutton’s goodbye post for Garcelle’s departure had a bizarrely short caption (“Friends Forever. #rhobh Lucy and Ethel.”) and felt like a strange photo choice (where Garcelle is scowling and Sutton is confused) given their last moments on screen together. Sutton’s post was even hours delayed after Garcelle’s, which means they did not coordinate ahead of Garcelle’s hard launch, which also means it’s very possible the pair had been on on stilted speaking terms since the reunion (matching the rumor reported to The US Sun by “inside sources”).
When Garcelle opted out of the cast photo (not unprofessional, given a group pic is far from a contractual obligation on any production set, mind you) she told production she was “pissed about all of it” and couldn’t trust anyone, because they’re all “fucking assholes.” So, looks like everyone included Sutton Stracke.
What has Sutton said about Garcelle?
Other than respecting Garcelle’s space (lol, seems kinda involuntary) and supporting Garcelle’s “next chapter with grace and success,” Sutton has gotten knee-deep in the comment section to defend her friendship. Fans have been giving Sutton smoke under recent IG posts regarding how they feel Sutton did Garcelle dirty. Sutton responded “untrue” to a commenter who wrote that Garcelle finally realized Sutton only wanted Kyle’s approval and Sutton also tried explaining away her choice to give Erika the “biggest surprise” props at the reunion.
