I’m willing to dabble in the fascinating nonsense of a spellbinding foreign world, but I’m not going to fully commit to the lifestyle because I have to go yap at happy hour, know what I mean? For the longest time, Meghan Markle was easily my favorite now former Royal family member. What? I love a betch who says “actually, never mind,” with her chest. Plus, I am a freak for Suits, what can I say!!! But now there’s a new Royal on my radar that has my attention and I think you’re going to want to hear all about his iconic lore. How is Ivar Mountbatten related to The Queen?
Ivar’s father, The Third Marquess of Milford Haven David Mountbatten, was first cousins with Prince Philip (who was married to Queen Elizabeth). This makes Ivar second cousins to King Charles III (who is married to Camilla), who currently reigns as the supreme diva of England. Ivar is also a first cousin once removed from Charles’ late father, Philip. Queen Victoria (famous for imperialism, surviving multiple assassination attempts, and the museum named after herself and her husband Albert) was Ivar’s great-great-great-grandmother. The Mountbatten last name is shared with his brother George, brothers Prince William and Prince Harry as well as their kids. With a family like this, the other Traitors better watch out.
Who was Ivar’s first wife?
Ivar got married in 1984 to Lady Penny Mountbatten, who was an entrepreneur named Penny Thompson before they married. Together they have three adult children named Luli, Alix, and Ella (who are the godchildren of Prince Edward and his wife Sophie, now known for his link to the Jeffrey Epstein scandal). All three girls are in their 20s. Even though Ivar explained he was “never unhappy” in his marriage to Penny, they did divorce in 2011. They were married for 16 years prior.
When did Lord Ivar marry his husband Coyle?
Ivar announced to the world that he was gay in 2016 which he accepted after he serendipitously met the love of his life, Coyle, at a ski resort. Ivar and Coyle got married in 2018, and in case you were worried there was any bad blood, here’s the kicker: Penny walked her ex down the aisle. How sweet!
