I fear JoJo Siwa was low-key manifesting when she said: “I was a bad girl / I did some bad things.” When the Dance Moms star entered Big Brother, she was in a serious relationship with Australian influencer Kath Ebbs, but that relationship apparently ended the moment JoJo left the show. Over the three-week season, fans had a lot of strong opinions about the (weirdly) close bond between JoJo and Love Island UK alum Chris Hughes. In case you missed it, they were extremely touchy-feely and joked about kissing and having babies together. Mind you… She’s 21 and he’s 32. It seems like Chris even helped JoJo explore and better understand her sexuality. “I’ve always told myself I’m a lesbian, and I think being here I’ve realized: ‘Oh, I’m not a lesbian, I’m queer,'” JoJo said on the show. “And I think that’s really cool.”
Although watching the show wasn’t a pleasant experience for Kath, they were still open to working things out with JoJo after filming wrapped. However, when the two reunited, JoJo decided to end the relationship. Since then, both JoJo and Kath have both shared their sides of the breakup story, and JoJo shared the truth about her relationship with Chris.
Here’s why JoJo Siwa and Kath Ebbs broke up amid the Chris Hughes Big Brother drama.
In a lengthy, since-deleted April 26 TikTok, Kath finally broke their silence on the whole JoJo and Chris ordeal — the influencer revealed that they were “in a complete state of shock” after JoJo “dumped” them at the Big Brother wrap party. “Everything we sort of saw unfold on what I thought was a fake reality show, where I didn’t need to worry about the validity of my relationship, was, in fact, laced in a lot of truth,” Kath said in the TikTok. They called JoJo’s behavior “emotional cheating.”
Kath also described watching the show as “very unsettling and very hurtful.” They noted that they did feel “betrayed by the things that [they] saw conspire” and felt “further humiliated” after getting broken up with. “I was told that there are confused feelings there — do with that what you will,” Kath said, alluding to JoJo’s relationship with Chris. “They had realized in the house that I wasn’t the person that they wanted to spend the foreseeable future with.” According to Kath, they’d been discussing marriage before JoJo went on BB.

During an April 28 appearance on ITV’s This Morning alongside Chris, JoJo opened up about the breakup and shared her own perspective. She said it was “not a plan” to break up at the wrap party. “That was not an intention, that was not supposed to happen like that,” she clarified.
JoJo added, “Initially, I was told that the wrap party was something they didn’t want to attend and then about an hour into the wrap party they decided they wanted to.” When they did chat at the party, Kath apparently asked JoJo if she was happy, and JoJo admitted that she wasn’t. “One thing led to another and that conversation did take place there,” the Dance Moms alum confirmed.
The singer shared more of the story and responded to Kath’s TikTok video when she appeared on an April 30 episode of The Viall Files. JoJo claimed she was “getting cussed out” at the wrap party. “I understand they’re angry and they’re coming at me,” she said. “But I also keep reiterating, like, ‘I’m not in a place to talk.'” JoJo noted that it was Kath who asked her if she wanted to “end things.”
She recalled, “I said, ‘If you ask me tomorrow, I don’t know my answer. If you ask me right now, my answer is yes.'” JoJo added, “That, obviously, was taken as yes.” She definitely takes issue with Kath hinting that Chris caused the breakup. “That’s not the case,” JoJo said. “That is not the truth, and they know that and I know that.”

During JoJo and Chris’ joint appearance on This Morning, they shed some light on the nature of their close bond. “It’s hard to explain,” the Love Island UK star reflected. “It’s just a really strong bond between two people, which is just a strong friendship. And I think you can have like a soulmate friendship.” He noted that “having someone there every day when you’re emotional” was a “beautiful” thing. Chris also said his bond with JoJo is probably his “favorite thing” he got from the show.
JoJo did confirm that their relationship is currently platonic, but she sounded open to that changing in the future. “I don’t know any future of anything,” she said, adding, “But I’m really grateful for our dynamic that we have and our bond that we have. And whatever life does, life will do.” Sorry, but it’s giving soft-launch…
