There’s nothing worse than a cliffhanger that lasts too long, and A Court of Thorns and Roses fans have been left hanging on a cliff for what feels like forever. It’s been more than four years since the release of the last ACOTAR book (A Court of Silver Flames in February 2021), and fans across BookTok and beyond are itching to get back to Prythian. However, author Sarah J. Maas is apparently still toiling away at the sixth and final book in the series.

Sure, there are the five other books in the ACOTAR series, plus all the other series in the back catalog of the Maasverse, but there are only so many times you can reread the old favorites. And with the 10-year anniversary of the first ACOTAR book on May 5, fans are hungrier than ever for more faerie content.

In December 2024, Sarah spoke directly to fans after she was named Spotify’s first Global Top Author. In a video, she was pretty cagey about ACOTAR Book 6 details but said, “No surprise, it’s going to be a long book. It’s too early for me to tell you who it will be about, and what’s going to happen, but I hope to have more details for you soon.”

Is Sarah J. Maas Working on ACOTAR Book 6?

Sarah J. Maas has confirmed in several interviews that she’s been working on the sixth ACOTAR book for the last two years. So unless she wants to break a promise to a whole lot of romantasy fans, I think we gotta take her word for it. As recently as April 3, 2024, she posted on Instagram that she “went up North to write for a while” and included the hashtag #ACOwhattt to hint at the mysterious name and plot of this last book.

While plot details are being kept under wraps, the last ACOTAR book will likely return to Prythian to follow Feyre in her life as High Lady of the Night Court and her sister Nesta in her life with Cassian.

We don’t know the name of the sixth ACOTAR book yet, but I would bet good money that it’s gonna start with “A Court of…”

When Does ACOTAR Book 6 Come Out?

There is no release date yet for ACOTAR 6, but fans online have an eye on May 5 due to it being the 10th anniversary of the series. While Bloomsbury Publishing hasn’t hinted about a book announcement, it has certainly been doing a ton of promotion for the rest of the series (*cough, cough* like this massive version of ACOTAR seen on TikTok).
