To no one’s complete shock, Julia Fox came out as a lesbian on Monday. As one of the OG Internet Hot Girls, Fox announced her sexual identity the only way I would reasonably expect in 2024: via a TikTok stitch. And it’s all thanks to TikTok user @emgwaciedawgie (aka Gracin). In a recent video, Gracin said to the camera, “I love when I see a lesbian with their boyfriend. It’s like, Aw, you hate that man. You literally hate him.” To which Fox responded, “That was me. I was that lesbian. So sorry, boys. Won’t happen again.”
Fox briefly dated Kanye West in 2022, which was clearly a call for help. And if that wasn’t clear enough last October, Fox announced on The Drew Barrymore Show that she has “sworn off men.” Personally, I’m thrilled she’s now released from the chains of comphet. (Compulsive heterosexuality for those unfamiliar with the queer lingo.) And I’m even more thrilled that I had the chance to speak with the woman who basically inspired Julia Fox to say goodbye to dating dudes forever.
Queer comedian Gracin started posting content when the world fell apart in 2020 and has been doing comedy full-time on TikTok for the past four years. Thankfully for us, Gracin was willing to chat with Betches about what it was like to help facilitate Julia Fox’s coming out moment. Below is an edited version of our conversation.
My old manager sent me her video! I thought I was hallucinating or on drugs. It’s literally so funny and random that I’m part of such a big moment in lesbian pop culture. I love it, though! Seeing my name, or my face, randomly next to “Julia Fox has come out as lesbian” is so funny and not real.
Julia has not reached out to me, but she has liked my other videos about it. She is so queen, and I am “so Julia.” We will be intertwined forever. If I could give her a shout-out: Congrats, Julia Fox, on lesbianism! Even though you were already lesbian before TikTok I do feel like I have somehow graced your LGBTQ journey in the least creepy way. Love you, queen!
Definitely going at the top of my gay resume. It doesn’t even matter what job I am applying for. I will do my due diligence and let them know that I helped Julia Fox come out and change lesbianism forever. Even if I did it completely inadvertently… they don’t need to know that.
Honestly, the general lore behind the original TikTok was a ~certain~ TikTok couple that used to be… Well, I don’t wanna name names. I just know a lesbian when I see one!
Congratulate a lesbian you know today and every day! We are truly living the dream free from men. We are God’s favorites, and we deserve all the love.
