Lazy Girl Haircuts With Zero Maintenance So You Can Hit Snooze Again

I have a confession to make: I do not know how to braid my own hair. I know, being a 27-year-old woman who doesn’t know how to do a simple braid is blasphemous. And it’s not because of any unfortunate circumstances. I grew up the youngest of four girls who were all very much into their looks and knew how to contour by the age of 15. But for some reason, I couldn’t ever pinpoint, I just never learned how to do anything with my hair. And I mean anything.

When I get ready in the mornings, I either let my hair out, tie it up into a ponytail, or throw it into a messy bun. On wash days, I often can’t even be bothered to run a hairdryer through my strands. So, taking the time to ever straighten or curl it? Forget about it.

That doesn’t mean I don’t care about my hair. I’ve been oiling my scalp since I came out of the womb and have spent an obscene amount of money on haircuts, balayages, and everything in between. Truth be told, I’m just lazy.

Bobs are short and cute, but sometimes looking good with very short hair takes a lot of behind-the-scenes work, and who’s got time for that? Opting for a slightly longer lob still gives you the advantage of shorter hair, but it’s also a cute look on its own without you having to do too much.

Long Layers

If you like volumized hair but don’t want to necessarily do anything to get that volume, try getting long layers. Shorter layers typically require some maintenance, but when you choose longer layers, they grow out pretty seamlessly. According to Whitney J. Hunt, a hairstylist based in New York, this look works for textured hair as well and is a traditional way of keeping the hair bouncy with shape.

Pixie Cut

Okay, so I know this list is for low-maintenance haircuts, but I still included pixie cuts because even though you have to go to a salon every few weeks to maintain a pixie cut, you won’t have to do anything in your day-to-day.

Single-Length Cut

If you’re like me and mostly opt for ponytails or buns, getting a single-length haircut is pretty easy to manage. You don’t have to worry about doing anything besides brushing it. Whitney says that this type of haircut can add the appearance of volume too.

A Shag

If you’re into a cool “just woke up” look (because you did just wake up), a shag is the way to go. Because the point of this haircut is to look messy, there’s not much you have to do.
