Where To Shop If Brandy Melville Is No Longer On Your Roster

But where's a girl to find vintage-ish basics?!?

I’ll never forget the first time I heard about Brandy Melville…It was the end all be all amongst all my friends. More specifically, it was about the effortless, cool girl vibe that every college girl wanted to exude at the time. I mean, they clearly had a monopoly over the Valencia filter on IG and I’d die on that hill. While I personally thought there was no way in hell my average frame would fit into “one size fits all” baby tees (news flash, it didn’t), the girlies couldn’t seem to get enough. And honestly, who am I to blame them? The laid-back Cali vibe was intoxicating if nothing else. But, more recently, the one-size world of Brandy has become something you might not want in your closet anymore.

So, perhaps you’re like me and have decided that maybe Brandy just isn’t worthy of a spot in your shopping roster — whether you’ve outgrown them, want to build a quality capsule wardrobe, or you’ve caught a glimpse of the Brandy Hellville documentary that just premiered, here’s a list of where to shop instead of Brandy Melville to get the best cozy basics that actually fit.

Etsy finds are worth every penny

It feels good to support the small businesses and, TBH, Etsy makes that easier than ever. Whether you’re looking for handmade, vintage, or something custom, you’re bound to find something fun here.

Don’t sleep on thrifting!

Threadup might not have been a place you thought to shop online (and honestly, it doesn’t get better than thrifting IRL) but they have the real vintage items you’re craving that are (usually) gently worn in. Plus, you literally cannot beat the prices — it’s a win-win.

Aerie has the softest basics ever

My obsession with Aerie started with their viral crossover leggings but now I can’t get enough of their cozy, oversized sweats. I know they’re known for athleisure and underwear but keep an eye out for their cozy AF basics — you won’t regret it.

Gap is a classic for a reason

Gap has been around for literal decades, and if you ask me, that’s a sign that they’re able to keep up with the times. I love that they’re always reinventing simple silhouettes while staying true to their OG brand.

Reformation still hits

I know Reformation had it’s heyday a few years ago, but this store still gets me excited. But, before you gawk at the prices, keep in mind the quality you’ll get from each piece. I’ve had the same Ref dress for 5 years and it still looks brand new.
