Love may or may not be blind, but it would certainly have to be deaf for Lauren to tolerate Dave for a lifetime. The Love is Blind season 8 villain’s misogynistic, demeaning comments in and out of the pods are out of control. It’s a baffling mystery to me why Lauren ever got engaged to this Botox-obsessed ass, in the first place but alas… that did happen. She said yes to Dave after he *finally* decided to choose her over Molly (who I thought was his first choice this whole time). But outside of the pods, their relationship is a disaster. Dave won’t stop punishing Lauren for hooking up with someone before she went on the show. Apparently, he expected her to be celibate for a long period of time. (I’m sure he was, and that’s not a double standard or anything.)

Nope! They called it quits before the altar because Dave’s a manipulative asshole. Basically, he wasn’t ready to commit to Lauren (surprise surprise) so he strategically tried to get her to break up with him. He decided to make her pre-show casual fling a huge issue and also refused to introduce her to his fam. “My family, they don’t meet just anyone,” he said to her. Sir, that’s your fiancée. Dave added that he doesn’t want to “waste” his sister’s time, introducing her to Lauren. So yeah, they didn’t make it.

After giving her hell for all those weeks, Dave realized his mistake and drunkenly approached Lauren at a group event to apologize. He claimed that their love was “real,” which “freaks him out.” Thank GOD Lauren wasn’t having that BS. “I want to believe it so badly and a lot of me does,” she responded. “But it’s just hard to believe. I think we’re past that.” I breathed a giant sigh of relief.

For the life of me, I can’t understand why Lauren was at all interested after that horrendous first date. When she told Dave she was 30, he had an insane response: “Oh, so you’re no longer attractive.” I almost smashed my laptop screen right then and there. Lauren was a bit taken aback and asked, “Should this be the first date that I walk out on? It might have to be.” Lauren, Lauren, Lauren. Why in god’s name did you not walk out??? That was the right call.

And that’s just one of Dave’s now-infamous lines. In a confessional, he admitted, “I have kind of been an ass to women in my previous dating life.” He literally told Molly that he’s cheated in the past, so, yeah. I’d have to agree with that assessment. Dave also said that working in medical aesthetics and being “surround by botox, fillers, face lifts, tummy tucks, butt lifts… has affected [him] in terms of what a woman should look like.” Exactly what every woman wants to hear <3.
