Diamonds are forever, unlike a lot of celebrity relationships. Maybe there’s something in the water in Hollywood, but it’s pretty common info that long-lasting celeb couples are a rarity. I mean, just take a look at Leonardo DiCaprio’s dating history as Exhibit A (and B and C, probably). That’s why when there are famous pairings that last — at least long enough to put a ring on it — it’s always cause for celebration. Or at the very least, cause for fascination. And with celebrity engagements come celebrity engagement rings. Even if the marriages don’t last, or they don’t even make to to the altar, like I said, those diamonds (and sapphires and rubies and emeralds…) last forever.

Celebrity engagement rings are fun to look at because their designs can say so much about the couple. Did they go non-traditional and use a stone other than a diamond? Did they use a family heirloom? Or did they just spend a ridiculous amount of money of a really huge rock? Each ring is special and unique to the person who wears it, so it’s difficult to rank them… but I’m gonna try. So, here’s a list of the best celebrity engagement rings of all time.

Jennifer Aniston went for a unique rose-cut diamond for her engagement ring with Justin Theroux, which gives the ring a softer sparkle. Jennifer and Justin might not be together anymore, but the ring shines on.
