As a non-gamer girl, the first time I heard about Borderlands was when director Eli Roth cast Kevin Hart, Jack Black, Jamie Lee Curtis, and Cate Fucking Blanchett as Lillith in the movie interpretation of the popular video game. Even as someone who could pretty much only use a PlayStation as a paperweight (and also someone who just learned the difference between an X-Box and a PlayStation last year) taking the Atlas Transport to Pandora was a pretty smooth ride. Though picturing myself fighting off zombie-like “psychos” with exploding teddy bears is still a little stressful, I am now considering adding an electric pink streak to my hair, Lilith style, because Lillith is that bitch. At the end of Borderlands Cate Blanchett’s character discovers something huge about her past that changes the future of the planet Pandora and the fate of Tiny Tina (Ariana Greenblatt) opening the vault forever. What happened at the end of Borderlands and will there be a sequel? Strap on your rabbit ears and let’s find out.

Beware! Spoilers Below.

Who is the daughter of Eridia?

Towards the end of the movie, Lilith goes back to the village she grew up in and stumbles upon her childhood home. A crayon drawing she fixated on as a child activates a video recording to be projected from Claptrap (Jack Black’s Wall-E style character). In the video message, Lilith’s mom (who she thinks abandoned her) explains that she was more special than she ever knew. She tells Lillith that she is not actually her daughter, but the daughter of Eridia as told in the prophecy, which is why Lillith found the second key to the Eridian vault so easily. Her Firehawk powers are awakened when she touches the three keys together in the final showdown against Atlas and Crimson Lance.

Does the bad guy Atlas die at the end of Borderlands?

We think so. He’s left for dead in the vault after Tiny Tina kicks his ass and Lillith leaves him there to be swallowed by a monster. Peace has finally hit Pandora – but will it last? If a century of action movies has taught us anything, probably not!

Will there be a Borderlands sequel?

Yes, it seems like the movie was teed up to allow for sequels and possibly prequels. Fans of the Borderlands video game franchise are aware there are multiple spinoff games in the Borderlands universe.

Is The Handsome Jack character in the Borderlands movie?

No, the famed villain does not make an appearance in the first Borderlands movie. All the more reason to believe there are hopeful plans in the works for a follow-up.

Is there a Borderlands post-credits scene?

No, you can walk out when the credits roll (what a treat!).
