Lady Whistledown has some major updates for Bridgerton fans: you can expect to see a lot more of all the drama in the Ton soon. Not only did we get a lot more details about the upcoming season 4, but Netflix has also already renewed the series for seasons 5 and 6. Lady Whistledown herself (I guess she works for Netflix now?) took part in the announcement with a cheeky little message, writing, “Rarely is this author granted the opportunity to share with you such information. It is with great pleasure I can announce Bridgerton shall return for seasons five and six. Do celebrate accordingly.” Well, my form of celebration is simply to obsess over everything I can find on the new season until it comes out.

Season 4 of Bridgerton is based on the third book in Julia Quinn’s series, An Offer From A Gentleman. It’s all about Benedict (Luke Thompson), the bi-curious artsy Bridgerton brother who so far in the series has been too busy planning sexcapades at the opera to woo a wife. But it’s finally his time to shine as he embarks on a romance with Sophie (Yerin Ha). But, nothing’s ever easy on the road to love; otherwise we wouldn’t have a whole season of TV to watch. Here’s everything to know about season 4 of Bridgerton.

What’s the plot of Bridgerton season 4?

Bridgerton season 4 has a little bit of a Cinderella story going on, with Benedict falling for Sophie at his mom’s masquerade ball, but not actually knowing it’s her because of her mask. He only knows her as the Lady in Silver, and doesn’t realize she’s actually a maid.

Netflix released a sneak peek of the moment Benedict falls for Sophie, which you can check out below:

A lot of season 4 is about the push and pull between Sophie’s life as a maid and her mysterious romance with aristocratic Benedict. “What’s striking about season 4 is that it’s the struggle between a proper old-school fairy tale — the romance of it — and the actual reality of the world,” Luke Thompson, who plays Benedict, told the Netflix blog Tudum. “You have to hold both of them — the romance and the reality — in your hand. In its best version, ‘rue love’ happens in the middle of that.”
