On December 21, The New York Times reported that Blake Lively filed a legal complaint against her It Ends With us costar and director, Justin Baldoni. She accused the Man Enough host of creating a hostile work environment, sexual harassment, and taking part in a smear campaign to ruin her reputation.

Justin’s lawyer, Bryan Freedman, has since denied the allegations and called them “false, outrageous and intentionally salacious with an intent to publicly hurt” in a statement to People. Meanwhile, Blake shared her own statement with The New York Times, writing: “I hope that my legal action helps pull back the curtain on these sinister retaliatory tactics to harm people who speak up about misconduct and helps protect others who may be targeted.”

Blake’s complaint details how Justin and his team of PR experts organized the alleged smear campaign against her. (In August, he hired crisis PR manager Melissa Nathan, who also represented Johnny Depp during the Amber Heard trial.) Several celebrities, including Blake’s BFF, Taylor Swift, were reportedly involved in their strategy to take down Blake on the internet.

Justin’s crisis management expert wrote in an August email: “We have seen the most innocuous issues turn giant due to socials or the hugest crises have no effect on social whatsoever. In another document seen in the complaint, Justin’s team writes that they “can also explore planting stories about the weaponization of feminism and how people like Taylor Swift, have been accused of utilizing these tactics to ‘bully’ into getting what they want.”

Justin sent a mean Twitter thread about Hailey to his publicist as an example of how he allegedly wanted to ruin Blake’s reputation on social media.
