Upon learning that Taylor Swift is involved in Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni’s It Ends With Us mess, fans are wondering where Taylor and Blake’s friendship stands today. In case you missed it, Justin sued Blake after she accused him of sexual harassment and retaliation, and his lawsuit includes an alleged text exchange between him and Blake where they seem to discuss Taylor.

In the alleged text convo, Blake and Justin appear to discuss Blake rewriting a scene in the movie and showing him that rewrite in front of her husband, Ryan Reynolds, and Taylor. Per the texts, Blake compared herself to the Game of Thrones character, Khaleesi, and seemingly called Ryan and Taylor her “dragons.” Justin accused the Gossip Girl alum of using Ryan and Taylor to intimidate him into making script changes.

Things only got messier when Justin’s legal team subpoenaed Taylor as part of their countersuit and alleged that Blake threatened Taylor for public support. (Blake’s team denied those allegations, calling them “completely untethered from reality,” and a judge removed the letter from the case.)

For a while, there have been rumors that the chaotic legal battle is negatively affecting Taylor and Blake’s longtime friendship. So, are Taylor Swift and Blake Lively still friends after all this? Here’s an update.

On June 3, a source told People that Blake and Taylor are trying to get back “on good terms,” but “their friendship isn’t the same as it was before.” The insider noted that they “haven’t been spending as much time together as they did in the past” and “Taylor is working to trust Blake again but it’s going to take some time.”

However, another source told The Daily Mail a different story about where these two stand. They claimed that Taylor “has totally cut ties” with Blake, but Blake’s still trying to make amends with the singer. Per the source, Blake’s “been reaching out to her with texts, voicemails and even emails, begging to mend what they once had.” They added, “Blake isn’t giving up on trying to get her friendship with Taylor back on track.”

Shortly after the subpoena and the legal letter about Blake allegedly threatening Taylor, a source gave People an update on Taylor and Blake, sharing: “Their friendship has halted. Taylor wants no part in this drama.” Another insider told the outlet that the longtime pals are “taking some space,” but are “not no longer friends.”

Back in January, The Daily Mail reported that Taylor had “taken a step back” from her friendship with Blake after her name came up in Justin’s lawsuit. According to their source, the singer was concerned about being used as an “intimidation tactic” and didn’t want to “get tangled in this more than she already has.”

“Taylor shouldn’t even be involved in this at all,” the insider added. “She was only going over to visit Blake and Ryan with the understanding that the meeting would be over.” A second source claimed that Taylor “is conscious of her own image and hates that she was even mentioned.” A source for E! notably shut these rumors down the same day, claiming, “It’s not true.” They didn’t offer any more details.

A friendship falling out would be a big deal, because these blondies have been BFFS for more than a decade now. They’re always seen getting NYC dinners together, Blake sat with Taylor at the 2024 Super Bowl, and Blake even directed Taylor’s 2021 music video for “I Bet You Think About Me.” Not to mention, Blake’s kids have made multiple appearances in Taylor’s discography. The Reputation track, “Gorgeous,” includes a voice memo from Blake’s daughter, and Taylor also name-dropped her bestie’s kids in folklore’s “Betty.”

Blake and Taylor haven’t been seen together yet this year, but they were spotted on a double date with their partners in New York City in October 2024.
