With season 14 of The Real Housewives of New Jersey ready to go, fans are hungrily waiting for Bravo’s loudest ladies to grace our scenes. While Melissa Gorga has confirmed our expectations that the latest iteration of the embattled family drama ends with an explosive finale that is “so dirty” and “not good” (yeah what else is new) there are some non-Gorga/Giudice lingering questions from last year that I hope will be answered. Does Marge Sr. have a new boyfriend? What was the price tag on Jen Fessler’s stunning work and did she give either of the Jennifer’s her doctor’s number? Are the twins ever coming back (because low-key I kinda miss them)? Most importantly of all, as someone who has been passionately rooting for her love for years now, did Paulie finally get that divorce so Dolores can have the dream wedding she deserves? There is a small update we all should know, but don’t shoot the messenger because it’s not great.
The sad answer is no. As of this past September when speaking to Page Six about the latest drama during filming, Paulie said while he’s still waiting for the divorce from his ex-wife there is “a plan that’s in effect” in alignment with his and Dolores’ timeline “that should make everyone happy”. Umm… unless that plan is taking his ex-wife by the hand and marching to the courthouse yesterday I, personally, am not satisfied.
Paulie has been separated from his ex-wife for 14 years, as revealed at the last tumultuous RHONJ reunion, and since they ended on such good terms never felt pressured to break up on paper. He proudly said Dolores is the first woman he’s been serious about in that time period, as evidenced by the fact that she has met his children. The ex-wife Paulie is struggling to cut legal ties with is Joanne Connell, the mother of his two children Brooklyn and Kameron. Joanne filed for divorce in 2020, an entire year before Paul and Dolo even met, but for whatever reason they just didn’t go through with it. Maybe Covid slowed things down but Paulie, for the love of God, make it happen!
The happy couple is still going strong and headed towards the altar. You know, whenever Paul can finally sort this whole mess out.
