James Kennedy Was Reportedly Arrested For Domestic Violence

Just a few weeks after the announcement of a complete cast reboot of Vanderpump Rules, former VPR star and successful DJ James Kennedy reportedly has been arrested for domestic violence, according to TMZ. James first appeared on the top Bravo reality series curated by fellow British ex-pat Lisa Vanderpump in season 2. He became a main cast member two years later by season four and continued on a memorable eight-season run involving many arguments between James and his fellow castmates. James’ storyline on the last few seasons of Vanderpump Rules revolved around overcoming his struggles with alcohol and his deteriorating relationship with his ex-fiancé Rachel Leviss. On season 10 of Pump Rules James had officially moved onto a new relationship with SUR waitress and astrologist, Ally Lewber, whom he first began dating in 2022. The claims of a domestic violence incident first came out publicly on December 12, 2024, first shared by TMZ. Here’s everything to know about James Kennedy’s arrest for domestic violence.
Why was James Kennedy arrested?
According to records obtained by TMZ, the police were called to the scene of a Burbank home on December 10, 2024, where James and a woman were allegedly having an argument. TMZ reports the current charge James was arrested for misdemeanor domestic violence though the City Attorney’s office in Burbank is still currently reviewing the case. The TMZ report also alleges that a witness claimed to the authorities that James grabbed the unidentified woman during their altercation. No injuries were reported on the woman, as included in the police’s initial reports following the incident. James is alleged to be the only person arrested in response to their assessment of the situation. James’ bail was set at $20,000, which the reality star has posted and therefore secured release with as of Dec. 12.

It is not currently confirmed who the female counterpart involved in the ongoing case is. On the night of the argument, James and girlfriend Ally Lewber were seen attending Kathy Hilton’s Christmas party hosted at her Bel-Air Mansion where many Bravolebrities (from Lisa Barlow from RHOSLC to Toya Bush-Harris from Married to Medicine) were pictured celebrating the holidays. So far James Kennedy nor a representative has responded to the charges going public. James and Ally bought their home together in 2023, as featured on season 10 of VPR.

Kristen Doute’s Response To James Kennedy’s Arrest
In the wake of the shocking news, James’ former cast mate and girlfriend Kristen Doute posted about his arrest. Kristen wrote the caption “FINALLY.” next to a headline of the breaking news. Kristen dated James in 2014. Their volatile relationship was featured on season 4 of VPR. Kristen previously claimed James’ had a history of abuse against women on her podcast in February of 2024.
