JoJo Siwa is sharing her thoughts on Miley Cyrus’ recent “joke” about her sexuality. In case you somehow missed it, the “Flowers” singer alluded to JoJo’s new relationship with Chris Hughes in a video for a World Pride event. In the clip, Miley’s literally in a closet and ends her message with, “I’m going back inside to get more pretzels and find JoJo Siwa and bring her back out.” Now, I’ll roast the Dance Moms alum all day for her “music,” sartorial choices, and extremely questionable decisions (*cough* cheating on her partner on a reality show), but this comment did feel a bit unfair — even if it was totally unserious. And it’s a well-known fact that JoJo worships Miley, so I was wondering how she reacted.
A few days after the video surfaced, JoJo responded with an Instagram photo dump that included an adorable photo from her Miley-themed birthday party, along with throwback pics of her and Miley together. JoJo shared that she had a Miley-themed birthday party when she turned 5. (Very on brand.) “If you know me, you know that miley is my day 1, grew up beyond inspired by her from 2 years old on,” she wrote in her caption. “I wasn’t sure how I felt about things for a couple of days… but I’ve started to come to some thoughts.” The “Karma” singer clarified that she doesn’t believe Miley’s comment about her was “ill-intended.”
“Honestly I think it was meant to be a joke, but just not very good one haha,” JoJo added. “Not what the world, or myself needs to hear anyday of the week.” She revealed that she did message Miley about it “light-heartedly” and Miley replied with a simple, “All love. Always . ❤️❤️❤️.” Not quite an apology, but a sweet message nonetheless.
JoJo reflected on her sexuality journey, sharing that “the most beautiful thing” she’s learned so far is: “Love is a gorgeous rainbow. Don’t question yourself, don’t second guess yourself, just love. Love love love love love.” She noted that people will always judge, and it’s especially tough when that judgement “comes from someone you love and look up to,” but it’s most important that you’re “happy and content with yourself.”

When JoJo appeared on Big Brother UK, she had a major revelation about her sexuality (realistically because of her feelings for a certain fellow named Chris). “I’ve always told myself I’m a lesbian, but … I think being here, I’ve realized, ‘Oh no, I’m not a lesbian. I’m queer,’” she said on the show. “I think that’s really cool. I’m switching letters.” She and Chris officially announced their relationship earlier this month.
