I think I would genuinely watch Elle Woods do anything. Obviously, it’s a treat to watch the iconic character become a lawyer in Legally Blonde. But that’s not all she can do: She also conquers Capitol Hill in the name of animal rights in the underrated classic Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde. And then, there’s also the singing and dancing version of Elle in Legally Blonde: The Musical. Honestly, Elle Woods is kind of like a Barbie doll fans get to watch in all different pink-hued forms. So of course I’m amped that now we get to watch the latest edition of Elle, Teenage Elle, in the prequel Legally Blonde series.

Yup, we’re going back in time to the 1990s to see Elle Woods’ origin story in the Amazon Prime series Elle. The OG Elle, Reese Witherspoon, is producing the series and said in a statement, “I truly couldn’t be more excited about this series! Fans will get to know how Elle Woods navigated her world as a teenager with her distinct personality and ingenuity in ways that only our beloved Elle could do.”

Start practicing your bend and snap now because here’s everything we know about the upcoming Legally Blonde prequel TV series Elle.

Legally Blonde Prequel TV Series Elle Details

What is the Legally Blonde prequel Elle about?

Elle will follow Elle during her high school years, before her sorority house and way before Harvard Law School. On April 2, Reese Witherspoon released a sneak peek from the set of Elle, with the caption, “Harvard was hard. High School was harder. Our new series, Elle, is now in production!” Eeeeee, it’s happening!

Who’s in the cast of the Legally Blonde prequel Elle?

There was an open casting call to find the actress to play the younger version of Elle Woods. And so after a big search, Reese herself delivered the news to her successor. Lexi Minetree is stepping into Elle’s bright pink pumps, and she seems pretty much perfect for the role.

In addition to Lexi, the cast includes series regulars June Diane Raphael, Tom Everett Scott, Gabrielle Policano, Jacob Moskovitz, Chandler Kinney, and Zac Looker. In the recurring cast, there’s Jessica Belkin, Logan Shroyer, Amy Pietz, Matt Ober, Chloe Wepper, David Burtka, Brad Harde, Kayla Maisonet, and Lisa Yamada.

On May 16, we got another exciting casting announcement. Former teen heartthrob James Van Der Beek will have a recurring role in Elle, although we don’t know who his character will be yet.
