I’m really thanking the Hollywood gods for this glorious news right now: One of Them Days, as in the Oscar-worthy masterpiece starring Keke Palmer and SZA, is officially getting a sequel! Variety announced the sequel on June 4, reporting that it’s currently in “early development” at Tristar Pictures with the same creative team as the original project. So, how do I help speed up that development so this movie hits theaters, like tomorrow? Who do I need to call? Lemme know.

This sequel news doesn’t come as a shock, considering the original Issa Rae-produced film grossed an impressive $50 million when it premiered in theaters back in January 2025. Plus, the movie’s been a hit on Netflix… At least, I’ve watched it several times. Following the announcement, SZA posted a video on her Instagram Story captioned, “me on my way to the auditions of one of them days 2,” and she joked, “Imma read the script this time fr.” LOL. When Is The One Of Them Days Sequel Coming Out?

Unfortunately, no release date for the sequel has been announced yet, and I fear “early development” means we’re definitely not getting this movie any time soon. We’re probably looking at late 2026 or 2027… Stay tuned for updates. The good news? While we wait, we can enjoy Keke’s upcoming album, Just Keke, which drops on June 20. I’m so fucking excited. And obviously, I’m still streaming Lana on repeat, and you should be doing the same.

One Of Them Days Sequel Plot Details

We also don’t have any plot details yet, which is sad, but I have an educated guess based on how the original film ended. You may recall that Dreux got her dream job, and Alyssa put on her first art show, so the girlies are thriving. It’s called “Successful” by Ariana Grande. It’s giving “Run the World (Girls)” by Beyoncé. In the sequel, I hope we get to see their journeys crushing it in their careers, following their dreams, and facing some relatively harmless (and hilarious) obstacles along the way.
