Is ‘Reputation (Taylor’s Version)’ Finally Here?

Taylor Swift Just Debuted "Look What You Made Me Do (TV)"

Another day, another Reputation (Taylor’s Version) easter egg. If you watched the new Handmaid’s Tale episode, “Execution,” last night, you probably gasped as “Look What You Made Me Do” *feat. brand new Taylor Swift vocals* began to play. Swifties have only been waiting for the revamped version of that song — and the rest of the album — for several years now. Realistically, I’ll be 82 when we get the full project. While the lead single on Reputation was originally inspired by Taylor’s Kanye West and Kim Kardashian drama, it made for a fitting rebellion soundtrack in The Handmaid’s Tale.

“I’ve been wanting to use a Taylor song for many years on the show and we finally found the perfect spot for a track from her, and I’m so glad we waited because there could not be a more perfect song for a more perfect moment,” star and executive producer Elisabeth Moss told Billboard about the special musical moment. Handmaid’s Tale editor Wendy Hallam Martin added that this synch felt “meant to be.” She explained, “Our badass main character June in this scene, really was saying ‘look what you made me do’ and the song couldn’t have been more on point.”

Interestingly, this Handmaid’s Tale “LWYMMD” debut comes after months of Taylor avoiding the public eye and taking a social media break. Does this mean Taylor Swift might announce Reputation (TV) at this weekend’s AMAs? Here’s what we know.

Taylor Swift’s “Look What You Made Me Do” Debut In The Handmaid’s Tale: Watch

We hear “Look What You Made Me Do (TV)” at the beginning of the episode as June Osborne leads the red-robed handmaids in a rebellion against the Commanders. The women walk in unison with determined looks on their faces, and they start running when they’re being chased and explosions go off behind them. Swifties watching this scene immediately knew that this isn’t the OG version of the song… those are mid-30s Taylor vocals for sure. The production sounds mostly the same, thank god.

For a while now, fans have theorized that Taylor’s making an announcement at the May 26 AMAs. She’s up for six awards this year, including Artist of the Year and Album of the Year, so it seems likely that she’ll attend. Swiftie sleuths have recently noticed that her online store spells out AMAs with the first letters of this four-option menu: Apparel, Music, Accessories and Sale. Coincidence? In Taylor world, probably not. Plus, Taylor’s been selling 12 items for 26 percent off… a very specific percentage that might hint at the May 26 AMAs date. This 12 could also be teasing her 12th studio album, not the Reputation re-record.

Taylor hasn’t released a Taylor’s Version album since October 2023, so it’s about damn time for Reputation. I want those vault tracks, immediately, and I’m manifesting “Getaway Car” as a single this time. Stay tuned to see if Taylor announces Reputation (TV) at the AMAs!
