Throwback ‘Hannah Montana’ Cameos That Will Blow Your Mind

Sweet niblets, it's a star-studded lineup.

Hannah Montana has a massive legacy. The iconic Disney Channel series ran for four seasons from March 2006 to January 2011. It spawned a concert movie, a theatrical feature film, and an entire generation’s desire to lead a double life as a pop-star and regular girl! Even Chappell Roan just shared how important Hannah Montana is to her during her Call Her Daddy interview. Iconic is an understatement. And honestly, the only thing bigger than Hannah Montana is the list of celebrity cameos from the show’s run, and none of us realized it at the time.

Hannah Montana may have been a Disney Channel kids show, but it had a caliber of guest star way above its pay grade. I’m talking about multi-hyphenate celebs, award-winners, and people who went on to become some of the biggest names in Hollywood today. Miley Cyrus has gone on record saying she’s down for a Hannah Montana reboot whenever, and if and when that day comes, it’ll likely be the most star-studded Disney Channel event of our lifetimes. But until then, let’s look back on some of the biggest Hannah Montana cameos you forgot existed but need to remember.

Hannah Montana cameos you def forgot about

Brooke Shields

Ok, you probably remember Brooke Shields was on Hannah Montana since she appeared in multiple flashback and fantasy episodes as Susan Stewart, Miley Stewart’s late mom.

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson

Since Hannah Montana was a pop star in the world of the show, it made sense for her character to interact with a lot of real-life celebs, like The Rock. He played himself on the show, and received a colorful makeover from Miley and Lilly (Emily Osment).

Larry David

This cameo from Larry David comes with some bonus cameos from his daughters, Cazzie and Romy. This was way before Cazzie broke up with Pete Davidson or published her essays, and she apparently mortified by her first foray in the limelight. “If I could take any video off of YouTube, it might be that one,” she said on Call Her Daddy. “I actually have blacked it out because the line makes me, to my core… Like, my punishment should be death.” Don’t hate me, Cazzie, but you can watch the scene here.

Austin Butler

We all know from his Elvis voice that Austin goes deep into his roles. I wonder if he had trouble shaking his Hannah Montana season 2 role as Miley’s blind date who’s afraid of horror movies. Quick, somebody toss on The Conjuring in front of him and find out.

Alison Brie

Here’s another one of those blink-and-you’ll-miss-it cameos from someone before they became really famous. The Mad Men and Community star played a hairdresser all the boys on the show had heart eyes for.

Ray Romano

Ray showed up on the Hannah Montana set to poke a little fun at himself. In his season 2 episode, he played himself at a celebrity auction… only Hannah didn’t recognize him at all. At least you’ll recognize him now if you give the episode a re-watch.

Joey Fatone

The NSYNC star joined Miley to play Joey Vitola, a retired baseball player who owns an Italian restaurant. Honestly, a very believable role for Joey!

Jay Leno

Jay Leno played himself when Hannah made an in-show guest appearance on The Tonight Show. It was a pretty big deal, because this was the moment she revealed the truth of her double life and secret identity with the world.

Kelly Ripa

Kelly also played herself on Hannah Montana when she interviewed Miley after she revealed her identity to the world. Just like with Larry David, she took the opportunity to share the episode with her kids; her daughter Lola Consuelos also appears in the episode.

Dolly Parton

Dolly might just be the most famous Hannah Montana guest star. Miley Cyrus’ real-life godmother played Miley Stewart’s Aunt Dolly for several episodes of the series, and brought all her southern charm with her.
