Um, Why Is My Archenemy Greg Back In ‘The White Lotus’ Season 3? A Recap Of His Storyline

There better be justice for Queen Tanya this season.

48 minutes into the first episode of The White Lotus season 3, my jaw dropped to the floor when I spotted Queen Tanya McQuoid’s (may she RIP) diabolical husband, Greg Hunt. Yeah, the Greg who was plotting against Tanya all of season 2 and presumably conspired with evil gays to get her killed and steal her fortune. Jon Gries, who plays Greg, is the only actor to appear in The White Lotus all three seasons so far; clearly, his storyline will be extremely important. So, WTF is the deal with Greg’s return in The White Lotus season 3? I need him to deal with some horrible karma, stat.

The White Lotus Greg: Tanya’s Husband, Season 3 Theories

In the first episode of season 3, we only get a brief glimpse of Greg — he’s yet to have any dialogue. Toward the end of the episode, Chelsea (Aimee Lou Wood) makes a new friend, Chloe (Charlotte Le Bon), at the bar. The girlies quickly bond over having grumpy, rich, balding BFs, and we learn that Chloe and her man own a home near the hotel and like to eat there. “He’s behind me,” Chloe tells Chelsea. “The bald guy. The one with the orange shirt.” And then, we get the shocking reveal: Greg’s sitting alone at a table with lots of food and a glass of brown liquor.

It’s surprising that the “land management official” is back yet again, considering most characters are only there for one season, but it also makes sense. I still have a lot of questions about his involvement in Tanya’s death, and I truly hope we get some answers this season.

You may recall that Tanya meets Greg in season 1 when he “accidentally” tries to get into her hotel room. They strike up a romance and by season 2, they’re married and having a couples vacation at the Sicily White Lotus. Throughout the trip, it seems like Greg absolutely despises Tanya, and he’s making a bunch of sus, secret phone calls. He eventually announces that he’s leaving their week-long trip for a few days to deal with a “work” matter, and that’s the last time we see him in season 2.

After Greg leaves, Tanya makes new friends… the gays referenced in her now-iconic line, “These gays are trying to murder me!” But at some point, she finds an old photo of Greg posing with one of her new pals, Quentin (Tom Hollander), and realizes that they’re probably scheming to steal her money. Season 2 ends with Tanya murdering several of the gays, but devastatingly, she also dies when she trips and falls. It was an on-brand way for her to go.

Since Tanya took out Quentin and his buddies, it seems like Greg wound up with all of her money. Sooo, is he gonna be investigated this season? Is he gonna go after someone else? What happens when Belinda (Natasha Rothwell) inevitably sees him at the hotel?

Listen, I would not be mad if he was the one who was shot. #JusticeForTanya.
