The “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion” 2024 Met Gala was certainly a night to remember. Sabrina Carpenter and Barry Keoghan made their red carpet debut, Ariana Grande remembered that she’s an A+++-list pop star and slayed her performance, and Co-Chair Zendaya gagged us all with three different sickening looks. Plus, Doja Cat showed up in a towel. Just throwing that in there. Overall, stans were pretty well fed — tons of our fave pop stars, actors, models, and Kardashians participated. However, there were also some noticeable absences that confused me.

Hailey and Justin Bieber sadly did not walk the steps at the 2024 fashion event. Considering Hailey’s an It Girl, fashion icon, and Met Gala regular, it definitely makes sense for her to be there. I mean, the girl’s attended seven since 2015; clearly, she loves a good exhibit and some celeb mingling. So, why didn’t Hailey make it to this year’s Met Gala? I did some research and reflecting… there are a few possible explanations.

Justin Is Reportedly Going Through A Hard Time

Hailey might’ve skipped the event to support her husband, who’s rumored to be going through it right now. When the singer posted a photo of himself crying on April 27, Hailey commented, “a pretty crier.” And then I cried too. Justin hasn’t spoken out about whatever’s going on, but a source did tell Entertainment Tonight that he’s been “facing some difficulties lately.”

“He has been having a hard time and hasn’t been feeling like his usual self,” they claimed. “Hailey has been doing her best to be there for Justin, but it is upsetting for her to see him struggle. They are doing their best to make things work and be supportive of each other. They are committed to doing whatever it takes to make things better.” Well, I’m manifesting good things for the pop star and nepo queen.

Hailey Was Traumatized By Selena Gomez Fans At The 2021 Met Gala

In case you forgot, Hailey was high-key bullied at a recent Met Gala. When she went in 2021, unhinged Selena Gomez stans started chanting Selena’s name at Hailey while she posed on the Met steps. (As a Selena stan myself, it was very cringe. Go touch grass if you have the urge to bully someone.) Hailey’s endured hate from Selena fans throughout her entire relationship with Justin, and that moment was particularly intense.

During her September 2022 appearance on Call Her Daddy, the model opened up about that experience. “Yes, I could hear everyone screaming,” she said. “I think there’s a certain part of you that has a numbness of just like…I was really surprised.” Hailey added, “I just felt like it was disrespectful to me, to my relationship. It just was, period. The end. But I think I’ve endured so much disrespect, and I still do to this day that there was like a part of me that was just like another day.” Protect this woman at all costs, please.
