I’m not exactly sure when or why it happened, but at some point in history the mumu got a bad rap. And truthfully, the idea wearing a kaftan dress hasn’t crossed my mind in literal years — until I saw a post on @everythings.fine discussing plus sized fashion where all the girlies were in consensus in the comments: despite their tumultuous past, it’s time to bring the mumu back.

I know we’ve already determined that we’re bringing back the tankini this year, but I think it’s time for us all to be in our Golden Girls era too. And by that I mean, looking chic as hell in cute kaftan dresses for summer by the pool, sipping mixed drinks, and getting caught up on all the hot goss. TBH, just call me Blanche. Let’s not forget that it’s one of the easiest outfits to keep you cool during the summer too — it feels like you’re essentially naked and can actually feel a breeze because the fabric barely touches your skin (anything tight is giving me the ick rn).

I know what you’re thinking…and no, not all mumus are created equal. But, I’ve gotta say, there are some trendy options out there that’ll make you feel like a cast member of White Lotus. Trust me, you just need to know where to look. Keep scrolling to shop some of the kaftans I’ll personally be sporting all summer long (and maybe a few others I’ve had my eyes on).
