Sydney Sweeney Had The Most Bad-Ass Response To Being Body Shamed

First of all, who's body shaming Sydney Sweeney??

It’s no secret that the internet is not kind to women — especially women in the public eye. It doesn’t matter what you look like or how you treat others. Being a woman is basically having random strangers constantly picking at and judging you just for your existence at all times. And most of this ridicule usually surrounds how you look. The gag is that it truly doesn’t matter what you look like; someone out there will always have something negative to say. And Sydney Sweeney is no stranger to this.

Recently, The Daily Mail released paparazzi pictures of Sydney sunbathing in her own backyard (because the paps are sleazy and intrusive) that have caught the attention of internet trolls. Why? Because Sydney looks like a normal human woman.

Sydney has faced a lot of bullshit when it comes to strangers commenting on her body for basically the entirety of her career. She’s been overly sexualized and objectified by both strangers and directors (Sam Levinson, I am your biggest hater) and has had her body put under a microscope since she’s been in the business. And more recently, she’s been on the receiving end of some pretty nasty body shaming from complete strangers (usually with a fake picture in their profiles).

People are up in arms because these pap photos aren’t photoshopped or taken from an angle that makes her look super perfect — she’s just existing and enjoying herself (in what I may say is still more of a “socially acceptable” body than what everyday women have), and men have taken it upon themselves to call her a catfish because she “doesn’t look like she does on Instagram.” Again, these are photos that were sneakily taken of her relaxing in her home, and men are upset that they don’t look like the photos of her for magazine covers or campaigns. Yeah, I’ve never seen a group of men confess that they’ve never seen a woman in real life so loudly before.

But instead of just taking it, Sydney decided to clap back to the comments in basically the best way anyone could — she made a video compilation of screenshots of all the disgusting things the weirdos in her comments said, followed by a compilation of videos of her training for her new movie role as boxer Chrissy Martin. She’s flipping tires, uppercutting, punching bags, and working out like a beast. The whole video is basically the coolest “fuck you” I’ve ever seen from a celeb. And while I’m sure the internet trolls persist because they have nothing better to do, I’m sure Sydney is going to carry on what she’s doing, too: being a successful movie star and of course, an absolute baddie.
