No More Excuses! Men Should Last Longer In Bed, According To A New Study

TV has been lying to you.

Sometimes, I look at the people I’ve slept with and try to see if there are any patterns. I think we all do it — we try to figure out this whole sex thing by going off of our own experiences. And aside from them all being pretty awful, the men I’ve been with are quite different from each other — especially in the bedroom. I’ve had men who are gentle, passionate lovers, while others are rough and demanding. And when it comes to how long they last in bed, it’s pretty much been all over the board. I’ve had partners who could literally go for hours (I miss you, call me), and I’ve had partners who were lucky if they could last more than three minutes.

So when PsyPost took a look at three different studies all dealing with men and their orgasm speeds, I was definitely intrigued.

While I know all men are different and sex is pretty much a totally new and unique experience with every person you sleep with, there’s still some science to this stuff — actually, a lot of science. This is what the three different studies found when it came to how long men last in bed.

How Long Do Men Last In Bed?

Unfortunately, these studies focused only on men having heterosexual sex. So keep that in mind! And they weren’t just studying ejaculation times to give the girlies a good idea of how long their partners should last. In fact, researchers wanted to understand issues like premature ejaculation and delayed ejaculation (taking too long to cum) because of how often they usually affect someone’s relationships and self-esteem.

The first study looked at mostly Hungarian men and found that men usually ejaculate within 11 minutes during partnered sex. Longer times to ejaculate really meant that there were usually some sort of orgasmic difficulties.

In the second study, both men and women were asked about their own sexual experiences. Both groups thought the average time men last is about 5-8 minutes — but an ideal time being 10 minutes. In this case, “premature ejaculation” was considered anything lasting less than 1.5 minutes.

And then finally, the third study timed 500 couples from different couples and found that the average time between penetration and ejaculation was 5.4 minutes — with variations by country and age.

Even with so many studies out there, there are so many things that affect how long it’ll take a man to cum. After reading about these studies, I’m thinking back to conversations I’ve had with partners that could go for a really long time and how they mentioned they’ve learned to control their orgasm speed so that sex could last longer.

The reality is sex doesn’t always last for hours and hours like it makes you think on TV. And while there are ways to make yourself last longer, as long as you and your partner enjoy the experience while it’s happening, that’s all that matters — even if the experience is about six minutes long. Just be sure to be ready for round two… and maybe even three.
