Everyone’s period affects their body differently. Some bleed out for days and feel absolutely miserable, while others barely feel Aunt Flo as she comes and goes within a single weekend (what’s it like being god’s favorite?). And while some people want to murder anyone who tries to come within 20 feet of them, others… Well, they get super super horny.

And if you’re part of the latter, you’re not alone. Whether it’s the fluctuating hormone levels during your period or you’re just horny all the time regardless of your cycle, people are really into having period sex. And for good reason too. Aside from the fact that pretty much any type of sex can be pleasurable, having sex on your period can create natural lubrication that can make sex feel better. Plus, it can actually do wonders for any uncomfortable menstruation symptoms like cramps.

If your partner is grossed out by period sex, first of all, I’m so sorry but they need to grow the fuck up. Periods are a natural part of a uterus owner’s body, just like discharge and pubic hair. And being shunned from sex just because we’re on our menstrual cycle is so 2015.

I can get why some people on their periods might be hesitant about period sex. It can get messy and you’re not sure how enjoyable it might be. But just because you haven’t been super comfortable with stirring the paint in the past, doesn’t mean you can’t start now. Here are some easy and comfortable period sex positions to help you and your partner part the red sea successfully. Pro tip: Use a towel you don’t particularly care for.

I get if you don’t want to have sex on your dining room table while on your period, but hey towels exist and so do other tables. Lay on your back on any table high enough to put your and your partner’s crotch leveled. Then, bend your knees so that they’re going up the length of your partner’s arms as they prop themselves up next to you.

Anything On Your Back

If you have a heavy flow, the most comfortable sex position will be anything where you’re on your back. Not only will you have to worry less about getting blood everywhere, but if you’re a little uncomfortable from period symptoms, nothing is better than just being a pillow princess.

“Stand And Deliver” (In The Shower)

I know shower sex isn’t everyone’s favorite, but anytime I have period sex standing up, I like to do it in the shower. This is mostly for an easy clean-up, but also because the hot water adds an extra, really pleasurable sensation. Stand against the wall of your shower and spread your legs apart. Then, have your partner pick your legs up and wrap them around their thighs so that your crotches are lined up.

Go ahead and lay on your stomach with your head in your hands. Get comfortable. Then, have your partner sit on top of your butt in a squatting position, putting their hands on your shoulders for support. Extra points to them if they start massaging your shoulders during sex.

“Standing Doggy” (In The Shower)

Again, standing sex positions on your period are best in the shower. We all know what doggy is, so just standing up instead of being on your knees as you bend over in front of your partner is a great way to mix up this classic.

If you want to be as comfortable as possible during period sex, the scorpion can help. Put a big body pillow in front of you and lay your stomach on it, so that your butt is still lifted in the air, and your knees are tucked to the side. Basically doggy position but instead of holding yourself up, your weight is on the pillow. Then, have your partner get on top of you (not behind you) with their legs straight, holding themselves up with their arms. This is a little more work than usual for them, but hey, you’re the one on your period.
