When it comes to erotica, no one knows better than the fanfiction girlies. If you don’t know what fanfic is, it’s when readers (or viewers) write fiction based on some TV or book characters — so if you’ve ever wished your favorite characters did things a little differently, you understand the power of fanfic. 50 Shades of Grey was actually based on a fanfic of Twilight. And while those movies aren’t mainly the goldmine when it comes to really great sex scenes, they’re just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the world of smut that’s out there.
The new movie The Idea of You is no exception. The film features our beloved Anne Hathaway as a 40-year-old mother who gets with a 24-year-old boy band singer. While the movie isn’t technically based on fanfic (meaning it was a fully published book and not just on Wattpad), the author has made it clear she wrote it about Harry Styles.
Virtually anything Harry Styles-related, you already know, is going to cause chaos. While the Swifties scare me and the Barbz make me fear for my life, the “Harries” are unbeatable in one arena: they’re the horniest.
And when it comes to this movie, it seems like they have a really good reason to be. In an interview with Variety, Anne Hathaway said, “In the book, Robinne describes intimate acts with the most unbelievable energy. In their first physical sexual connection, Hayes brings Solène to orgasm while [she is fully] clothed. That became our North Star in terms of expressing cinematic sex in a way that makes it about her pleasure, while also making the point that a huge part of pleasure is giving someone else pleasure.”

The leading man in the movie, Nicholas Galitzine, is definitely on board with making it about her pleasure. “I think female pleasure is the sort of protagonist in this movie,” he said in an interview with Glamour.
