Once again, everybody’s convinced that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are getting a divorce. Because the world is just so full of good and kind people always rooting for love and happy endings, of course. Although the couple ditched the palace for a more ~normal~ life together in California many years ago now, people are still dedicated to analyzing their every move. Prince Harry and Meghan haven’t been seen together much recently, which has sparked lots of curiosity about the state of their marriage. Amid divorce reports, the prince addressed the speculation himself while in New York City for a New York Times event. So, are Prince Harry and Meghan Markle actually getting divorced? Here’s a breakdown of the rumor and Prince Harry’s response.
Everyone remain calm… This is merely a social media and tabloid theory for now. But why are folks convinced there’s trouble in paradise? Well, rumors about a possible divorce started spreading when the Duke and Duchess of Sussex each attended events solo. Royal commentator (BRB, applying for that job) Richard Fitzwilliam speculated that Prince Harry and Meghan have been in the middle of a “professional separation” and are trying to boost their image by experimenting with a new PR strategy — solo public appearances. “This is obviously a new tactic,” he told GB News. “As in every brand the Sussexes want to promote their brand as best as they can.”

At the December 3 New York Times DealBook Summit, columnist Andrew Ross Sorkin bluntly asked the prince about the rumors. He noted that people are “fascinated” by the fact that Prince Harry was at a New York event while Meghan was at a California event, the Paley Honors gala in Beverly Hills. Andrew posed the question on everyone’s minds: Why isn’t the couple doing events together? Thank you for your bold and important journalism, good sir.
“Because you invited me, you should have known!” Prince Harry replied. When Andrew asked if it’s a “good thing” that there’s “so much interest” in the couple’s lives, the Duke of Sussex assured him, “No, that’s definitely not a good thing.” He added, “Apparently we’ve bought or moved house 10, 12 times. We’ve apparently divorced maybe 10, 12 times as well. So it’s just like, what?” Something tells me he’s not too pressed about another round of divorce rumors.
Prince Harry says he ignores the theories but feels for the trolls. “Their hopes are just built and built, and it’s like, ‘Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes,’ and then it doesn’t happen. So I feel sorry for them. Genuinely, I do.” Lol. Not to disappoint the trolls, but based on these comments, it does seem like the divorce rumor might be false.
