Thank you, Conor Smith and Alison Ogden, for gifting us a much-needed Building the Band romance. After all, a reality show just doesn’t hit the same without healthy doses of love and drama. The Midnight Til Morning singer and the former Sweet Seduction member fell head over heels for each other while filming the music competition show, and it was kind of like watching Sharpay Evans and a secret fifth 5SOS member bond.

In episode 6, Conor admits to his Morning Til Midnight bandmates, “I had a very lovely night. We spent a lot of time talking about our emotions. We may have kissed. We went to bed at 5 am.” While the tattooed Aussie was over the moon about this new connection, his bandmates weren’t so thrilled about the distraction. In fact, Conor nearly ditched the band altogether because of the tension caused by his relationship with Alison. (Hands down, one of the funniest quotes of the season is Mason going: “We don’t need no Yoko Ono coming in here and breaking up the Beatles.”) Obviously, they worked things out — Conor’s still in the band a year after filming wrapped.

“I just really liked him really fast, honestly,” Alison told Betches during an exclusive interview about her Building the Band experience. She also revealed what happened with Conor after filming wrapped and where they stand today. So, are Alison and Conor still together after Building the Band? Here’s what Alison shared.

Are Alison And Conor From Building The Band Still Dating? An Update

What Happened To Conor And Alison After Building The Band?

According to Alison, she and Conor continued to explore their romantic connection after Building the Band filming wrapped. “We did keep in touch,” she confirmed. “I think it was a few days before I got eliminated, we were just talking in my apartment that we had there. I was like, ‘Yeah, I’m going to go around Europe after this. Yeah, I’m going to go to Paris.'” She was subtly inviting him, of course, but it took Conor a minute to get the hint.

“He was like, ‘I’ve always wanted to go to Paris,'” Alison recalled. “I’m dropping little Easter eggs. I didn’t want him to think I was a wackadoodle for inviting him on vacation with me, but I was thinking in my head, ‘Why not? I really, really like him.'” She noted that they had been “building a good connection.” (How did Building the Band produce a more legit relationship than the latest season of Love Island USA?!)

Alison was surprised to find how comfortable she was with Conor. “It takes me quite a bit of time to be able to open up with guys and feel safe, fully connecting with them just because of relationship things that I’ve dealt with in the past,” Alison shared. “But I felt so safe opening up to him and just really being me, and I felt like he really, really saw me. And I mean, he just was so kind to me and always so understanding.”

Eventually, Conor asked Alison if it’d be “crazy” if he joined her in Paris, and she was relieved. Alison says they spent a lovely week in Paris together. “It was really fun,” she told Betches. “And we talked more after that.”

Ultimately, the long distance was just too challenging. “We’ve decided that it’s best just to be friends,” Alison revealed. “He lives in Australia. I live in LA. The time difference is huge, which can be a bit difficult to manage, but I mean, I want absolutely nothing but the best for him.” She called Conor a “wonderful person” and thinks Midnight Til Morning is going to “absolutely kill it” with the girlies.

Is Alison’s Song, “Sweet Surrender,” Inspired By Her Relationship With Conor?

Of course, I had to ask if Alison’s new single, “Sweet Surrender,” was at all inspired by her relationship with Conor. “I like to, while being authentic to myself, separate my artistry and my personal life,” she replied, thoughtfully. “So, I felt like with ‘Sweet Surrender’ specifically, I wanted to be more the adult side of myself and embrace my sexual side and all of those kinds of things.”

She added, “I would say ‘Sweet Surrender’ is a lot more telling about where I’m heading in music, and I was very excited about it.”

Alison’s latest single is available now on all streaming platforms.
