Madison Beer Is Refreshingly Honest About Dating

Even though she’s only 26 years old, Madison Beer is one of those people who feels like she’s been around forever. I guess that’s because it’s kind of true. Madison first became famous when she was 12 years old, and Justin Bieber posted one of her song covers. And with almost 40 million followers on Instagram, Madison definitely has made a name for herself. So yeah, she’s been in the public in a big way, and now, she’s preparing to release her third studio album, so fans can expect to see even more of her soon.
In a recent interview with Cosmopolitan, Madison got really candid about her mental health, her self-image, and how bonkers it was to get famous at such a young age. But she was especially honest about her sexuality and relationships. Madison first talked about being bisexual in a March 2020 live stream, and she shut down her haters in her Cosmo interview, saying, “I’m just like, ‘Yeah, I don’t really know why you give a fuck that I want to date a girl.'” She said what she said.
Madison also gave some insight into her outlook on relationships. “I love people. I meet someone, I love them,” she explained. “I’m like, ‘Okay, I’m never letting you go. You’ll be with me forever until you hurt me.’ That’s the deal. I think also because I have such a weird life and never feel safe and comfortable with someone, when I cross that line of ‘you’re my boyfriend,’ it feels really big.”
Let’s take a look at who she has actually crossed that line with by digging into Madison Beer’s relationship history, including her current boyfriend Nick Austin.
Madison’s first major public relationship was with Vine star (remember Vine?) Jack Gilinsky. They started dating in 2015 when she was 15 and he was 18, and their relationship ended in 2017 after a recording surfaced of him being verbally abusive toward her.
Madison posted in a now-deleted Instagram post that she stayed in the relationship to try to “fix him,” but she urged her fans to learn from her experience. “Don’t make the same mistakes I did, your safety is never worth it,” she wrote. “No matter what, no one deserves to be treated that way.”
Madison and nepo baby Brooklyn Beckham had a summer fling in 2017. They were spotted out and about in L.A. but cut things off because they couldn’t handle long distance when he left for college in New York.
Madison and DJ Zack Bia had an on-again/off-again thing going throughout much of 2018 and 2019 until they finally called it off in March 2019. On March 16, 2019, she tweeted: “oof i rlly owe myself the biggest apology for puttin up w shit i never deserved.” Then just a few days later she announced the official break-up by tweeting: “single madison thrives.”
At least she got a song out of the whole mess. Most fans think her single “Selfish” is about Zack, so at least we got an excellent cry-it-out-in-the-shower banger.
Madison has been linked to her current boyf, Hype House star Nick Austin, since summer 2020. A bunch of pics of them together were posted online throughout 2020 and 2021, and then in March 2021, Austin made their relationship grid official with a birthday post for Madison.
Madison told Cosmopolitan she’s happy having Nick’s support as she enters this next phase of her career, saying, “It’s kind of exciting to be like, ‘We’re going to figure all this out, hopefully together.'”
