Suri Cruise was born on April 18, 2006, and at the time, she was the most famous baby in the world — literally. She was once named “Hollywood’s Hottest Tot” by some maniac who thought that list was a good idea, and her childhood wardrobe, which was extensively covered across style magazines, was estimated to cost between $3 and $5 million.
People in the mid-2000s were obsessed with Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes’ only daughter. After Katie was awarded sole custody of Suri when her divorce from Tom was finalized in 2012, she completely shielded Suri from the public eye. Suri now lives a typical teenage life and is preparing to enter early adulthood.
“What has been really important for me with my daughter because she was so visible at a young age is I really like to protect her,” Katie told Glamour about Suri’s privacy. “I’m very grateful to be a parent, to be her parent. She’s an incredible person.”
Katie raised Suri in New York City, and the teen is a savvy city dweller. Over the years, the mother-daughter duo have been photographed walking around Manhattan, and Katie has raved about raising a child near all of the iconic museums.
Suri is a graduating senior from New York City’s LaGuardia High School, a public high school specializing in teaching visual arts and performing arts. While it’s publicly funded, students have to audition to get into the prestigious school. Some notable alums include Timothée Chalamet, Jennifer Aniston, Sarah Paulson, and (many) more.
It seems Suri is heading to another distinguished school for college, Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. A TikTok video began circulating in June showing kids from LaGuardia High School on “commitment day.” In the clip, Suri could be seen wearing a sweatshirt from the institution, as the students celebrated their next chapters.

Suri’s future university is internationally recognized for its academics and arts, and it has been attended by Andy Warhol, Ethan Hawke, and Matt Bomer, to name a few.
Considering who her mom is, Suri has started getting her feet wet in the entertainment industry. Suri sings during the opening credits of the film Alone Together and lent her musical talents for a song in Rare Objects, both movies made by her mother.

“I hope she always does something on my films. I always ask her,” Katie told Glamour. “But both of those experiences came out of the same sense of what I love about our industry, which is, you have these projects and you become a family with people … And it’s this safe, beautiful, creative space. So it comes out of love for me to include someone who I love dearly.”
Katie added, “That’s how I like to work. I like to have that kind of feeling. It was very meaningful to me to have her there because she’s my heart.”
