‘The Pitt’ Is Coming Back For Another Intense Season

I've been having stress dreams about this show.

There are two kinds of TV shows. There’s the first kind are relaxing and comforting, like a massage for your brain. And then, there are shows like The Pitt. Relaxing is the absolute last word I would use to describe The Pitt. The Pitt is kind of like a bath… if that bath was full of life-threatening injuries and trauma flashbacks, and you were forced to sit in it for 15 hours. In other words, The Pitt is stressful TV.

The Pitt is a medical drama on Max that follows Dr. Michael “Robby” Robinavitch (Noah Wyle), who’s the chief attending in the emergency room at Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Hospital. The whole first season takes place over the course of one 15-hour shift, and each episode is one hour of Dr. Robby’s day. Not only does the show depict all the gnarly ER stuff you’d expect, but on top of that, Dr. Robby is also suffering from PTSD from working during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic. So yeah, again, it’s a stressful show. It’s also really good.

It’s so good, in fact, that it’s been renewed for a second season on Max. Here’s everything we know about The Pitt season 2.

The Pitt Season 2 Premiere Date

Max announced the season 2 renewal of The Pitt on February 14, even before season 1 finished airing. So, while it’s exciting to know there’s more of the series coming, we likely won’t get a premiere date for a while. Until then, the final episode of The Pitt season 1 airs April 10.

The Pitt Season 2 Cast

If the season 2 cast is the same as season 1, then in addition to Noah Wyle, it will include Tracey Ifeachor, Patrick Ball, Katherine LaNasa, Supriya Ganesh, Fiona Dourif, Taylor Dearden, Isa Briones, Gerran Howell, and Shabana Azeez. Noah is also a big part of the show behind the scenes too, as one of the series writers.

The Pitt Season 2 Plot

No word yet on the plot of The Pitt season 2, but Noah Wyle promises there’s a lot more story to be told. “We left the window open for season two [before getting renewed] because creatively, we all feel like there’s a lot more gas in this tank,” he told The A.V. Club. In that same interview, he also hinted that The Pitt season 2 will follow the same structure of taking place over the course of one day. Which day that will be, still remains to be seen.
