Picture this: a chic, futuristic stage that’s set to pump out live recordings from the festival’s headliners. But, this stage is situated in a Swedish IVF clinic in Stockholm.

Let me back up, Way Out West is basically Sweden’s premier musical festival. It’s a melting pot of rock, pop, hip-hop, electronic music, and basically everything you love. But aside from the music, the festival’s also become famous for its art installations, film screenings, and a 100% vegetarian food scene. From August 8 to 10, the streets of Gothenburg will once again be buzzing with music lovers eager to see acts like The National, Big Thief, André 3000, and more. And where sperm and eggs are gearing up for the ultimate pre-life concert experience.

Sure, it sounds like something out of a sci-fi movie, but Way Out West isn’t doing this just to make headlines. According to them, they’re all about highlighting the significance of music and how it impacts our lives — starting from the tiniest cells. This is basically their way of drawing attention to the festival while emphasizing the need for fresh, young audiences to keep the music scene alive and kicking (even before they are).

Can music increase the success of IVF?

Quick sex-ed refresher, IVF, or in vitro fertilization, is where eggs and sperm meet in a lab dish to create embryos. Those embryos are then transferred to a womb to make a baby. Ta dah!
