Like many a Real Housewives fan, I’ve added season 2 of The Traitors to my Peacock rotation so that I never have to go a day without watching grown women scream at each other over extremely petty shit. While I’ve really been enjoying seeing the openly calculating side of some of my favorite Bravolebs, I cannot stop thinking about the outfits on The Traitors. But not necessarily in a good way… None of the outfits are offensively bad, but they’re not anything I’ll be rushing to imitate anytime soon. It’s more the commitment to some unspoken theme that I’m fascinated by.

Not just the Housewives but ALL the women of the show have pulled off a level of outfit coordination that bachelorette trips could only dream of. I’m used to Housewives planning elaborate looks to match their surroundings on group trips, but as far as I know, there are no glam squads in the Big Brother House. So when I heard a rumor that they had to send pictures of their outfits to production before taping, I immediately believed it. Based on how all the preppy, vaguely Scottish plaid outfits and headbands came together, I’m almost certain that production had a massive collage of the one and only Blair Waldorf as their inspiration.

Don’t get me wrong, as iconic as Blair Waldorf’s style was at the time, it’s being grossly mistranslated here. From my POV it seems like the ladies in Alan’s castle were legally required to have at least 3 of the following accouterments on their person at all times with questionable results. While I wouldn’t necessarily recommend wearing every Blair Waldorf signature at once (as I’m sure modern day Blair wouldn’t), these Traitors-inspired pieces are cute additions to your winter wardrobe, especially if you put an indie sleaze spin on it to contrast with the Upper East Sider vibes. Let’s just hope there’s a strict Chuck Bass dress code for the guys next season.
