As a self-proclaimed street rat and an avid clubgoer, my interest is always piqued when there’s discourse online about club culture. Although it’s usually the same tired opinions — like, “Who wants to be in a crowded room with sweaty people?” or “Wouldn’t you rather be on your couch with a good book?” — every so often, the real club girlies start a conversation that gets the whole internet talking. And this time, a TikTok influencer (a millennial, I might add) went viral recently when she pointed out the decline of club culture — specifically that the girlies aren’t wearing heels anymore.

Of course, club attire has changed a lot over the years. I mean, remember when everyone was wearing business casual to nightclubs?! But just because our styles adapt doesn’t mean we’re not popping out and looking cute. Still, it did get me thinking that maybe we all need a little refresher on club looks. I understand why people aren’t wearing heels as much. Dancing in heels all night can get painful! But you don’t have to sacrifice comfort to look hot AF at the club.
