Did Ted Cruz’s Daughter Just Join The Claudia Conway Club?

Ted Cruz is probably one of the worst things to come out of Texas — and Texas gave us Yellow Fever in 1867. He’s anti-choice, anti-LGBTQ, Islamophobic, doesn’t believe in climate change, anti-immigration, and honestly? Just really fucking weird and kinda stupid. I don’t know a lot of people and I don’t know Ted personally (thank God) but I can still confidently say he is one of the worst people to exist. But you know who I know is worse? Donald Trump — you know, that man who’s set to be president again come January? But I’m definitely not alone in this feeling. In fact, Ted’s own daughter seems to share in my sentiment.

I try not to learn more about Ted than what I already know against my will, but I recently learned that he has a young daughter that might have some differing political views than him.

After Ted won reelection to the Senate (boo!) he said a bunch of awful stuff as per usual and then he ended his speech with “I believe… and I hope and pray that Donald Trump will be reelected as president of the United States.” And in a video of this moment, people on TikTok realized that one of his daughters literally cringed and seemed to be mouth, “Don’t clap for that.”

Who Is Ted Cruz’s Daughter, Caroline?

Ted’s seemingly anti-Trump daughter is named Caroline, she’s 16 years old, has come out as bisexual, and apparently disagrees with a lot of her father’s views. She even had her pronouns listed in her TikTok bio (before she went private), which seems to go against her father’s views since he once said his pronouns were “kiss my ass.”

A few years back, her videos were going viral for her explanations on what she liked and didn’t like about being a Senator’s daughter. On the list of dislikes, she mentioned how on a Christmas card, her shirt was photoshopped to be longer — she was 13 years old at the time.

People are comparing Caroline to Claudia Conway, the daughter of Kellyanne Conway, the former senior counsel to Trump. Claudia went viral back in 2020 at the age of 15 for posting videos about how she disagreed with her mother’s political views.

While people are applauding Caroline in the same way that they celebrated Claudia — they’ve been commenting on TikToks calling her a “diva” and a “queen” — we still don’t know much else about her. Sure, she might grimace at Trump’s name being mentioned (don’t we all?) but let’s remember that she’s still standing on stage in support of her father as he spews the hate that he spews. She’s still clapping when he says “tonight is an incredible night.” And even though people shouldn’t be judged by who their family is, they should be judged by where they stand (literally and figuratively) during these times. But who knows — Caroline is still very young and has a lot of time to grow. Maybe in a few years she’ll abandon her father’s side like he’s consistently abandoned reason and good character.
