The Real-Life Martha Reacted To ‘Baby Reindeer’ And She Is Quite Pissed

Martha Scott (the IRL Version) has officially spoken out about the seven-episode Netflix series, Baby Reindeer. She’s a stan! JK, JK. If you’ve been binging the show like everyone else, you know that it’s based on a true story about a lawyer who obsessively stalks a comedian after he’s kind to her. Although the show doesn’t explicitly give away the identity of the Martha character, fans are not idiots, and they figured it out in about three seconds. Martha is allegedly based on Fiona Harvey, a Scottish lawyer. And now that the series has become a massive hit, she’s telling her side of the story.

Fiona did not hold back during her 54-minute interview with Piers Morgan. I would know because I ignored my responsibilities to watch it. She reacted to the disturbing allegations, called the show “obscene,” announced her plans to take legal action, and had a direct message for the show creator. Those of us afflicted with a Baby Reindeer addiction have been curious about Fiona’s thoughts for a while now, and we finally have answers: Here’s what she said about the show and the “true story.”

What True Story Is Baby Reindeer Based On?

Richard Gadd, who stars in the show as Donny Dunn, adapted the series from his one-man play about his experience being stalked. In Baby Reindeer, the aspiring stand-up comic, Donny, meets Martha at a bar, and she seems friendly… until she goes all stalky. “Stalking on television tends to be very sexed-up,” Gadd explained. “But stalking is a mental illness. I really wanted to show the layers of stalking with a human quality I hadn’t seen on television before. It’s a stalker story turned on its head. It takes a trope and turns it on its head.”

How Did Fiona Harvey React To Baby Reindeer?

Well, Fiona does NOT give her stamp of approval. She spoke her truth during that interview and called the show “complete nonsense.” The lawyer denied sending Richard more than 41,000 emails and voicemails that add up to 350 hours. “That’s simply not true,” Fiona said. “If somebody was sending somebody 41,000 emails or something, they’d be doing how many a day? Lots. None of that’s true. I don’t think I sent him anything … No, I think there may have been a couple of emails exchanged, but that was it. Just jokey banter emails.” She admitted to “about” 18 tweets as well.

Fiona emphasized, “I find it quite obscene. I find it horrifying, misogynistic. Some of the death threats have been really terrible online. People phoning me up. You know, it’s been absolutely horrendous.”

She flat-out denied the allegations of stalking and assaulting Richard, and assaulting his ex-girlfriend. She claimed that Richard actually asked her to sleep with him. Can someone get the lie detector test guy?

Fiona Harvey Plans To Sue Richard Gadd And Netflix

Fiona’s not having it. “I think he’s psychotic,” she told Piers. “And I think that anyone going along, being in that play and doing this to somebody, I find the behavior outrageous.”

Martha IRL announced that she’ll be suing Richard and Netflix. She said directly to Richard: “Leave me alone, please. Get a life, get a proper job, I am horrified at what you’ve done.” Yikes.
