England’s sweetheart has been voluntarily low-key for the last few years, but happy Christmas indeed, the British betch is back with her new show Black Doves. If her appearance in Love Actually didn’t already make her Christmas royalty, Kiki’s most recent big-screen project prior to the new Netflix hit is another Christmas thriller, Silent Night. When will season 2 of Black Doves return?
The reported production schedule of Black Doves was a quick one (filming began in October 2023 and ended before the spring of 2024). So, given the show received its season 2 approval before season 1 even aired, and production plans are likely already in the works, it may be possible to see season 2 by the next holiday season.
What is season 2 of Black Doves about?
So far the show’s creator Joe Barton has revealed that the future of the show most likely won’t take place during Christmas. Barton told Variety that “he love[s] writing stuff set at Christmas” but the story won’t necessarily be limited to Christmastime, “which [Barton is] quite sad about, because [he loves] writing stuff set at Christmas.” Same, Joe, same. To keep the festive air alive, Barton suggests maybe the series will pick up on a different special day of the year, like Easter.
Where was Black Doves filmed?
Black Doves was filmed in “over 100 locations around London” so, yes, all the historic UK landmarks you see in the series are completely real. As Keira Knightley is from the burbs of London herself, she basically scored the best WFH gig of all time. However, production took place throughout the year, outside of December, which made it slightly more difficult for the production crew to make it look like it was Christmas all the time, as noted by the show’s creator, Joe Barton.
