Justice For Zendaya And ‘Challengers’! All The 2025 Oscar Noms Snubs

I'm pissed.

At long last, the 2025 Oscar nominations are here. Some excellent news: Ariana Grande-Butera is officially an Oscar-nominated actress, and Cynthia Erivo just earned her second best actress Oscar nom! Thank goodness The Academy put some respect on Wicked‘s name. With 10 nominations, the musical movie is tied with The Brutalist and only behind the controversial Emilia Pérez, which earned 13. In fact, Emilia Pérez just became the most nominated non-English-language film in history. (TikTok’s gonna have a field day with that.)

While I’m beyond thrilled about my Wicked queens getting nominated, there were some pretty shocking disses from The Academy this year… They really said “fuck you” to Zendaya and Challengers. Without further ado, here are all the 2025 Oscars nominations snubs that are making my blood boil right now.

Oscars 2025 Nominations: Snubs

Challengers

Did the academy see the same totally original, erotic, hilarious, brilliantly acted sports drama masterpiece that I saw?? Challengers did not get one single Oscars nom — not even in the music (Original Score) category, which it literally won at the Golden Globes. We need to be so fuckin’ for real right now. This is ridiculous.

A Real Pain

I’m PISSED about this one. No Best Picture nom for A Real Pain, though Kieran Culkin did get a nod for Best Supporting Actor, and Jesse Eisenberg was recognized in the writing (Original Screenplay) category. This was my favorite movie of the year by far, and I know I have taste, so The Academy is incorrect. Sorry.

Zendaya (Challengers, Dune Part 2)

The disrespect!! It’s crazy! I’ll admit, Dune Part 2 didn’t do much for me either, but ignoring this queen’s Tashi Duncan performance is blasphemy. That “COME ON” scream and the meme-ified look of utter disgust shall live on in pop culture history forever.

Jon Chu (Wicked)

This poor guy. Wicked got 10 nominations, yet he was left out of the Best Director category. TBH, if the movie is good enough for 10 nominations, I don’t see how the director gets zero credit for that. Justice for Jon.

Jonathan Bailey (Wicked)

Okay, I’m aware no one expected my king to get an Oscar nom for Wicked, but I still wanna take a moment to give him his flowers. He does deserve recognition for all that charm, dancing, flipping, and crooning. “Dancing Through Life” is one of the best moments of that movie, period.

Margaret Qualley (The Substance)

If I’m being honest, I don’t particularly care that she wasn’t nominated for Best Supporting Actress. But this is definitely a snub, considering Margaret’s costar, Demi Moore, is up for Best Actress (and could win it if the Golden Globes is any indication).

Selena Gomez (Emilia Pérez)

Listen. I know people think her Spanish was terrible (I can’t comment on that as I don’t speak Spanish), but she was playing an American, to be fair. And I honestly thought her acting was really good in this movie. However, I may be biased since I’m a Selenator of 17 years. Fuck, I’m old.

Nicole Kidman (Babygirl)

Babygirl was left out of the nominations entirely, I fear. No one appreciates harmful power dynamics or artful, erotic milk drinking these days! Not gonna lie… *whispers* I did not love this movie, so I’m not too pressed, but I am surprised.
