There’s simply no way this woman sleeps, so I don’t know what she would be doing at a “Sleeping Beauties”-themed evening. Eight years after her last appearance at the annual fashion event, Swifties have been wondering if Taylor Swift will finally make it back to the Met Gala. Sure, she’ll be jetting over to Paris for the European leg of the Eras Tour in just THREE days, but a wee conflict like that wouldn’t necessarily stop this superhuman pop star. Taylor’s always gonna be out and about. She’s gonna be hitting those carpets and (occasionally) those Met steps. She’s gonna be leaving us some insane easter eggs that hint at an album coming 10 or 20 years from now.
Why would she want to make her grand return in 2024? Well, over the last few years, Taylor’s become an unprecedented level of famous and is basically regarded as a living pop music legend. You can’t really blame a girl for wanting to flex a little. Perhaps she’s also heard whispers about her ~questionable~ fashion choices recently and has dreamed of redeeming herself. In Taylor’s defense, she’s never claimed to be a fashionista, just a very Tortured Poet. Let’s discuss Taylor’s 2024 Met Gala status and her history at the prestigious fashion event.
Is Taylor Swift At The 2024 Met Gala?
A Swiftie you know is probably crying right now because Taylor did not show up to the 2024 Met Gala. When asked about the pop star’s possible attendance, Anna Wintour gave an annoyingly vague response: “I hope she comes and enjoys the exhibit.” That’s called using her for clout, I believe. Tsk tsk.
But why didn’t Taylor make it this year? Well, she could be exhausted from releasing and promoting a record-breaking album just two weeks ago. But I think it has more to do with the Eras TourParis show that’s happening in three days. Ahead of the Met Gala, sources like Entertainment Tonight and People reported that Taylor would be too busy with concert prep to get dressed up for the fashion event. How dare she!

Although Taylor hasn’t been in quite a while, she’s kind of a Met Gala veteran. The pop queen attended six times from 2008 and 2016, and I will never forget this iconic Reputation look from 2016. Love it or hate it, the platinum blonde short hair, super dark lipstick, and metallic dress was the edgiest we’d ever seen her, and I was thoroughly shook. To no one’s surprise, the previous five were fairly boring. I’m just speaking the truth.
