Whether Kylie Jenner walks the Met stairs with a hit or a miss fit, she’s bound to make headlines everywhere. And this year, her outfit for the 2024 Met Gala “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion” was an absolute miss. Argue with yourself.
Kylie made her debut at the Met Gala in 2016 when she wore a sparkly, metallic Balmain number (super similar to the Balmain dress older sister Kim Kardashian wore that year). Since then, Kylie has attended every Met Gala alongside most of the members of our royal family (aka the Kardashian-Jenners). She’s worn iconic pieces including her purple Versace ostrich dress in 2019 and her 2022 off-white wedding dress and baseball cap, in honor of the late Virgil Abloh. They haven’t all been winners, but they all have been turned into think pieces.
This year, we were all on high alert not just to see if she’d eat or flop, but also to see if Kylie was attending the Met Gala with her rumored boyfriend of over a year, Timothee Chalamet — especially since this is her first major appearance since her team openly denied rumors that she was pregnant with Timothee’s child (she was seen out on the town with Kendall, but nothing as big as the Met Gala of course).

Kylie stepped out in an ivory, ankle-length, custom Oscar de la Renta gown that hugs her body. Even though her silhouette looks incredible as always, it almost feels like she’s not really trying. I get that she was going for a “garden statue” look but it just looks like a pretty white dress. The oversized puffy shawl she put over her gown basically looked like a really comfy blanket (taking “Sleeping Beauties” a little too seriously?) and the dress gives her a really pointy-boob illusions but other than that, I was kinda bored.
She wore her hair in a messy bun adorned with a flower in her ear and did a typical Kylie glam featuring a nude lip. As for whether or not she followed the dress code of “Garden of Time,” you be the judge. I’m going to lean toward no, though.
