Grammy-Award-winning rapper Megan Thee Stallion has had a huge year, between performing at Coachella, launching several new businesses, from a tequila to a new bathing suit line, Hot Girl Swim, and a new hit single. But Meg is also still dealing with the fallout from the 2020 shooting by rapper and singer Tory Lanez, who the courts found guilty of shooting Meg in the foot in 2022.

Now, nearly three years later, Tory’s lawyer, along with a representative from the state of Florida, is claiming there is new evidence that they allege proves Tory was not responsible for the incident. His legal team also alleges that Tory never received a fair trial (Tory was convicted after a fully adjudicated trial by “a jury of his peers,” Megan’s attorney noted to the press). Yet, Tory’s fans, including a group of mostly male celebrities, have taken the new evidence claims as an opportunity to vocally claim Tory is innocent and call for him to be pardoned.

Here are all of the celebrities weighing in on Megan Thee Stallion’s conviction against Tory Lanez in the shooting case.

In light of the recent rallying of Tory Lanez fans (including famous people with powerful platforms) despite Tory’s conviction using recorded evidence, SZA used an Instagram comment to defend her friend and co-worker, Meg.

SZA wrote “The density !!!!! I’m actually SO shocked at the amount of ppl fully comfortable bullying a woman that’s proven to be a victim of assault ??!” Megan’s team presented evidence of her being shot, specifically by Tory, including Ring camera footage, and text messages from Tory Lanez apologizing for shooting her.

SZA continued her comment, explaining that she couldn’t believe fans were making these allegations, “Like out loud where other ppl can see you ?? Lmao u finna be stupid OUTLOUD ?”

SZA’s reply landed under a post by a criminal defense attorney known as the luncheon lawyer, where she explains that any new evidence has to be presented to the court, not the public, to comply with the legal process.

Celebrities Who Have Supported Tory Lanez

Drake, Chris Brown, Kanye West, Kodak Black, Ty Dolla $ign, Amber Rose, and others have shown support for Tory following his conviction.

On May 16, 2025, Drake AKA Aubrey Graham took a moment from his public scrutiny, thanks to Grammy-Award-winning campaign by Kendrick Lamar, to post a Change.org petition. The petition was created to demand that Governor Gavin Newsom release Tory Lanez from prison.

Drake’s Instagram Story follows previous support of Tory Lanez, dating back to 2023, when Tory was sentenced to ten years in prison for shooting Meg. At the time, Drake shared a picture of Tory with the caption “3 you” and liked Tory’s posts, claiming his innocence to his friends, family, and fan base, which he calls the Umbrellas.

Ty Dolla $ign, Kanye West, and Kodak Black also shared the petition on social media, while Chris Brown posted an Instagram Story saying “FREE TORY!!!!!” Amber Rose, once famous for dating Kanye West and now attempting a career as a rightwing pundit, is reported by Forbes to have signed the petition.

Megan Thee Stallion Response To New Evidence Claim

Megan Thee Stallion got emotional in a lengthy TikTok comment asking, “when yall FANS gonna stop lying” and “harassing” her. She went on to point out that, “One min him/ yall said I was never shot now yall letting him play in yall face AGAIN and say I was shot but it wasn’t him oh okay…” Meg went on to demand: “LEAVE ME TF ALONE” considering “HE AINT GET ON THAT STAND AND DENY HE SHOT ME AND THAT WAS HIS CHOICE BECAUSE HE KNOWS HE DID THAT SHIT!” She denied there was new evidence, writing “FACTS ARE FACTS.”
